XNB is the format the game uses for the animations so if u want to have them in the game u must compile them into XNB.

Is there a way to compile them in large groups? If I have to do the compiling myself I probably will.

Completely rewrote the folder creator tool so that u can give up the folders where the .gif files are located and have them be moved to the correct folder no more manually dragging files into their folders.

Instructions down below:
  • Create a folder structure as seen down below u may use your own names if u want however these are conveniently named
  • 1.png
  • Go to http://sprites.pokecheck.org/?gen=3 or another site that has these .gif images however i made this tool based on the images of that website.
  • Right click and save the webpage this will save the entire HTML page along with all the .gif
  • 2.png 3.png
  • Now go into your root folder and open up the folder of the webpage u just saved.
  • 4.png
  • Select all images inside and cut and paste these into the correct folder
  • 5.png 6.png
  • Delete the now empty website folder and html page
  • 7.png
  • I am using google chrome which has a "Inspect Element" option build in this gave me a handy overview of the .gif on the website and they conveniently named the pokemon correctly
  • 8.png
  • For those that do not use chrome or want another method u can always use another source like http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Main_Page
  • Now start up the Folder Creator
  • 9.png
  • U can use the select buttons or type in the textfields directly to set the correct folders for where the .gif are located.
  • 10.png
  • Hit "Set Folders" if the Pokemons tab has been greyed out even though u filled it out.

Follow up to previous post

Instructions part 2:
  • Next up is the pokemon tab here u will add the pokemon names and correct filename.
  • 11.png
  • The filenames need to be without the .gif extension it is hardcoded in to look for these kind of files.
  • 12.png
  • Once u have added the pokemons and correct file names hit the "Create Folders button" if all goes well u should receive a succesful prompt else it will tell u what has gone wrong.
  • 13.png
  • Go into your output folder and there should now be folders named after the pokemon u entered.
  • 14.png
  • Inside these folders should be these folders (back , back_s , front , front_s) and inside each of these folders should now be located the .gif
  • 15.png
  • U can now continue the convert process using GIFMakerGUI and the PokemonSpriteMaker

the merger tool works a pokemon at a time, but once the folders are set up and the gifs in place you could do all the gifs in 1 go maybe, but honestly using each tool doesn't take that long, maybe 20 seconds a pokemon. you're looking at a nice chunk of a night to do a load of them but its faster than doing skeleton classes by far lol

for a lot of them i'd go like
use split's tool to make folders and get the gifs in the right place
use gifmaker, adding every gif you've got, this could be tedious sorry. i don't know if theres a faster tool for this very specific task :(
merge the frames a pokemon a time with nilllzz's tool. oh well, at least you don't have to merge the frames yourself and it does it 4 gifs at a time

I can probably do some tonight, if I remember. When I was doing the first 3 I was trying to find a way to do them pretty fast and I think I can get at least one every minute. Which would make a little over 2 hrs for finishing gen 1 besides compiling into XNBs.

thats not too bad. it took me 3 nights to get the stats off the wiki ;D no ones paying you to do it though so just do it in little sprints when you got the time. nilllzz is hard at work getting the whole go to mr pokemon->get egg and pokedex->fight rival->talk to elm->get pokeballs thing going so any more pokemon would come tuesday week at the earliest. basically, don't bust your hump doing it :) there's time

if ALL 600+ pokemon were sprited up at some point it would be much faster to add new pokemon, I'm not sure what nilllzz' plans are for having all gens in but for the content that is being made only gen 1 and gen 2 are needed, so everyone can stop at celebi for a while if it starts to get old. gen 2 still need skeleton classes so there's no rush to get every pokemon done

don't be sorry.

you have to split the gifs into individual frames, this is done with the gifmaker tool. once thats done if all the frames are in the correct folders ( in the form "/pokemonname/Front/" "/Back/" "/Front_s/" "/Back_s/" so meowths back shiny gif and its frames go in /Pokemon/Content/Pokemon/Animations/Meowth/Back_s/) then the sprite sheet maker will find the frames pngs and make the sheets for you in that pokemon's folder
