Guise... I think I just goofed. I'm about 95% sure I was fighting a shiny Growlith, the only Growlith Ive even seen... I switched pokemon because I didnt want my onyx to kill him in one hit. Then he just growled at me and ran away... DID I DO IT WRONG?? sigh. so mad at myself.

Well.... A shiny only has a 1/8192 chance to appear. :I

Aww, that's too bad. Some pokemon, such as Growlithe and Vulpix, tend to use Roar to run away. Pidgeotto can also run away using Whirlwind, but if it's some sort of consolation, those pokemon are hard to catch before they run away early in the game.

Just use a Ghost Pokemon while hunting for those, they are immune against Roar. That's how I caught my Vulpix.

That must've been nerve-wrecking.... Shiny ninetales is so pretty.... And I love how it looks even more like a ghostly kitsune in it's shiny form. If I had a shiny ninetales, I'd pair it up with a Froslass for sure. "Team Cursed" for sure.

I gave up after 2 and a half hours, I only found regular ones. Oh well, next time ill be ready >.> And thanks for the tip, I caught a ghastly earlier, and it is low level, but I will train it up and have it ready in case I come across another shiny.
