Fourth of all: I take it you know the general concept of Pokemon?

You might wanna pick cyndaquil as a starter. The first 2 gyms are weak to fire pokemon.
Pokemon is all about choosing your own favourite Pokemon, raising them and winning with them.

Thanks for the instructions/advice! And yes, I have never played. Whenever my friends found out they were in shock haha. Yes, I do understand the basic concepts of pokemon, I just never played the game. I used to collect pokemon cards when I was little, but never played the card game either. I also watched the TV show a little but not a whole lot.

The TV show only teaches you the basic concept, but the Pokemon games go far deeper. ^^Thanks for the instructions/advice! And yes, I have never played.
And no worries at all. This will be an interesting starting place for a new trainer.

I dont think you know what shiny Pokemon are then. They are Pokemon that are a different color than normal and are extremely rare to find. I think the probability of finding one is 1/8192

and some advice train to be good against ghost and normal pokemon in my opinion those are the two hardest gyms to beat
Catch it. Whatever you do, catch it. You can trade it for other Pokemon.
