Uh hello last I checked People trade Hacked Pokemon & Items still. Also who are you to to say How Any Game is meant to be played? Video games aren't like Board games or card games. Is cheating Right or fair? No but its not like any game makers have ever come out and said cheating is wrong and our game (S) aren't meant to allow cheating so we've found a fix? In fact aside from "Rom Hacks" at least 95% Of games can probably be cheated at and I'm sure if you knew how or got word from a creator there would be ways around cheating at Roms & the other 5% It's not like anything is 100% Hack/Cheat Proof Ultimately anything that involves computerized data is only Manmade thus subject to not only the faults of man but subject to manipulation.cause whats the point of the game in the first place if everyone is cheating by giving themselves pokemon and items. If they dont lock the game then there would be no point of putting in thing like co-op battles or co-op trading. Lock the game please and allow pokemon be played the way its ment to be played.
every dev ever is aware of this, because not even blizzard can stop cheaters. they have giant cs/gm staff numbers even. the thing is no matter what you have to kind of make an effort or its just the wild west out there.Uh hello last I checked People trade Hacked Pokemon & Items still. In simplest terms think 1 of them corny old super hero skits where theres a robot and the creator is like I created you, you will obey me cause I can control & tell you what to do![]()
we've put in a system to handle client side only edits to content files, and eventually maybe UI mods beyond reskinning (content packs). we also put in a system to allow a new game to be packaged up and run in the engine as a 'game mode'. this makes it easier to keep modders out of our base game files, in that they have 0 reason whatsoever to overwrite them beyond cheating. with that done, we will be free to impose anti-cheat on the game without robbing power from modders.I play Neverwinter Nights. That game doesn't have any copy protection to keep people from hacking characters with ridiculous stats. However, the game allows you to host sessions online, and gives you the option to disallow the use of "illegal" characters or that otherwise can't be created through normal gameplay (the server checks the character to see if the character matches the server's character building rules, which can be different for servers that have implemented custom content). I believe this would be a much simpler solution than disallowing people from modding the game.
Or is this more about preventing people from messing up their installation of the game by messing with critical files? So if two people play online together, but one has messed with their game files, the games would act weird because they're receiving conflicting information on how the rules are supposed to work?
You can't really fix that unless you store the game data files in a non-standard archive format that the game runs them from directly, so that players can't bork up their installation by poking around their installation directories.
Is there a save game editor or modding tools or something?
because we don't have a server for itIn regards to having skins be visible to all players if they're custom-made, why not do it like Minecraft and have a server you can upload your skins to, which the game reads for online play? You could even implement it into the forums in some way...
we're probably locking save games with encryption. mods will probably have saves encrypted the same way. i want to have a sandbox mode for developing and testing. you would be able to start it without the launcher, with a certain list of content packs, and a certain game mode, to a certain map and position on it. the sandbox mode would use a sandbox save, i might allow there to be 1 for each game mode that is auto generated the first time you load a map with that mode. the sandbox save would be plaintext and editable. anyway, you'd load in as that character where you told it to go and i'll enable holding ctrl to walk through things and move the camera. in this mode you would only be able to MP with people in sandbox mode (so coop things can be tested) and quitting will quit the game, not go to main menu.what i suggest is keeping the Vanilla Poke3D Editable, perhaps pokemon edits that are a no go? and everything else is customizable.
while Mods in the other hand, depending on the Arther, should be Locked for thier own reasons.
or i can say it differently for Poke3D's Vanilla. An option to start your game with your own Starter. (ANY 1st evolution pokemon) and having the option to Add your skin and finding a way so that others can see your skion as you play wityh each other. which is Kolben's goal to complete that task.
if anything Kolben coiuld make a Official Poke3D that is Locked while the other is Editable.
either way, it all depends on what Nils wants for Poke3D
