New starter pokemons

I still don't like this idea. In the original games the starter Pokemon were preselected to make sure you trade with other people. So far Pokemon3D doesn't have any of that yet so the argument is more in your favour but I still don't think changing them is right.
It's not like your forced to choose one of the new pokemon. You could still pick the same old ones like squirtle, charamander, etc. This would just be for people who want a more different experience at the start of the game. Nobody is forcing anything on anyone. So there's no need to be upset and try to force things to stay the same so others can't get their enjoyment out of the game.

ease up turbo, no ones upset, we're just talking about a suggestion

theres 3 kinds of suggestions, dumb suggestions (another game i worked on got constant requests for grenades when there weren't even 'grenades' invented in the time period it was set in) cool suggestions and good suggestions. i think this falls into 'cool', let me elaborate:

any suggestion that isnt dumb is cool, these are ideas that sound really awesome in theory. almost anyone can come up with these. what separates the cool from the good is if it can fit into current plans, then it needs to be useful enough to justify the time.

a good suggestion is probably easy to do, or something that makes a minor but needed change to something we have planned (like, where would a future friends list go? how do we handle custom player characters? what do we do with pal park?). big good suggestions often don't interfere with any existing or planned system and don't overlap. An example of this was the discussion on adding trainer levels with perks, with many of the ideas from it probably being workable.

this is a cool suggestion because it shakes up the start of the game and this might be interesting for a bunch of people, but i just don't see a reason to code up such a thing ourselves. what i would rather do is make it as easy as possible for people to create their own p3d mods so these sort of ideas can be explored by the community, and kept out of our designs. this whole idea is probably possible now with modding and enough work. if your mod installer let your user set up their character name and sprite, import another characters pokedex and let them select 3 pokemon which then get their ID numbers put into the scripts for the starter choosing map you could probably have this idea working now within the current system. this requires a fancy installer be done up but if someone with the know-how to do it wanted to make it happen they could without nilllzz doing anything. and thats without actual mod support as such ;)

I've got a great idea for this!
Note, I'm new on forums and I haven't even finished the game.
What if, there's a small house mapped BEHIND prof's Elm lab?
The door should be locked, so NOBODY could enter it.
After you have beaten the E4, when you start in your house again,
prof Elm rushes into your room, claiming he found the key of the door.
He hands over it, and you can unlock the building.
In the building, there are PokéBalls of ALL starters.
Well, the non-evolved.
all at level 5.
1.Elm claims you can pick one of each generation
2. You can pick them all.

What 'bout that?

By the time you hit e4 you already could have gotten all starters in the wild

In "pokemon edición revolution", you can catch all the starters in "secret" places through the map, and each time, are in diferents locations, but you can catch all of them

in the gen 4 g/s remakes you can talk to oak to get a kanto starter and steven stone to get a sinnoh starter. they both give you it after you beat red. that seems like a better way to do it, tbh. gotta have SOME trading.

Small update: Nintendo confirmed the starters are pure Grass, Fire, and Water types respectively. So Bulbasaur is still the only starter to have two-types :D

i could see adding some basic types to the list of starters such as bug, flying or even rock for people who like to play with themed teams, but they would have to be basic ones you can get early on anyways. i spose we'd probably stick to ones with 3 evolutions and they would have to be balanced weakness wise, some examples would be caterpie, pidgey, geodude, machop etc.... obviously we'd also like to see the starters from yellow version as well.... having a free range of anything though would be unbalanced, and highly difficult to implement. Though a new trio that doesnt follow the same fire water grass set would be rather nice for themed players.
