I think the majory of us already knew what we wanted before we started playing this game. xD Since, obviously, you would have already played the games/watched the anime before you came here. Heck, played an emulator before this.

I am not saying there aren't people who never did either of those and just jumped onto this game, but that doesn't seem very likely in my eyes.

i did exactly as you described what you did, was playing an emu on my gs3 before this game was up

Choosing Totodile makes the game somewhat challenging in the beginning cuz of bellsprout tower and bug gym, but it tends to get easier as you progress. If you want a easy game use Cynndaquil and just get a Ampharados. Don't ever use Chikorita...no seriously, ever.

chikorita owns, I guess it all depends on your level of skill with using pokemon that don't flourish in the beginning capture a piggy for sprout tower, or hoothoot

Grass Pokemon in general are all a matter of personal taste. You'll find yourself trying to make up for their weaknesses instead of using them for their strengths, if at all.
