I think, you've been playing on the offline version all this time. I can't find your character on the Friend Hub search feature. Well, I can find it, but it's a rank 1 pre-schooler and I doubt anyone at the Red Gyarados would have 1 point.
If it's offline, then I can still help you, but I cannot breed and trade one to you. I can make you ''cheat'' one in since that's the only way, but... it doesn't sound right, does it?
However, if you really do want this Charmander through legit means, you would have to play the Gamejolt save but that means starting over from scratch. (I had to do it, many people did.) It's a bit cruel, but it's there to prevent from hacked Pokémon from reaching the GTS (Global Trading Station.). It still has some flaws but atleast we're not seeing any legendaries in the trade. As a reward for your troubles, I can give you the Charmander for free.

I have a fire stone, how do I evolve my new Growlithe with it ? :/
You go to your bag, select the firestone, press ''use'' it will then show you your party and then just select the Growlithe. BUT. Beware, evolving Growlithe at low lvl will cause it to lose certain moves.

Yeah.... I wasn't happy too. I had awesome Pokémon, strong and ready to fight anything that dares to fight me. And then the update came and I had to start all over again. *Sigh*
Well... I guess this means that you will have to start over again?
Instructions on how to play online:
The Gamejolt ID is used to play online. When you start the game and you are at the menu (With continue, load save, new game and quit.), there's a little lightning strike icon on the bottom right of the screen. Press that, type in your name and your token. (You can find the token on the website. )
