So then everyone will have perfect IV's, then what is the point of IV's. Don't get me wrong I never bother with that stuff because I find it boring, but if someone works at getting perfect IVs then he deserves to have an edge

That's the point I was trying to make for single player/story mode. You don't really need to cheat at it. It's easy enough to get through once you know what to expect.

As for cheating in Pokemon to battle, I agree with what you said, but sometimes you want to change a few points and don't want to start all over with a new egg to do it or you don't have the time to make a full team this way.

@ Darkfire (Don't mean to ping you, just talking about your ingame service idea)
Can it be adjust your IVs (and maybe EVs for a higher price or charge per point) instead of always perfect? Some moves (at least newer gen moves) might depend on less speed for more power and I know Hidden Power's type is based on the IVs. Perfect IVs wil make it Dark type always. Ingame it says normal, but in reality it is any type but normal based on IV values.

IVs are all but uncontrollable....
also IVs also control Hidden Power's power and type so people would have a wanting to have specific IVs(which would be an option....)
But overall IVs are worthless in my eyes....and If they no longer effected stats I would like that....

EVs could maybe be a free feature to reset specific stats or a service that tells what your EVs/IVs are ATM
but you should have to do the work for EVs...IVs could be a payed service b/c you can't change it normally...

It(EV,IV training) being a hassle is kind of the point, If you want stronger pokemon then someone else, work at it, if you cheat in the perfect pokemon, then why even battle someone else. On the other hand, you really don't need EV or IV training in single player.
I think a paid (ingame) service that will perfect your IVs would be a good idea....
that would be an unfair advantage

I'd be happy with just an EV stat telling NPC. Changing IVs should be a pricey end game thing if implemented. That way you still need to work hard to get the money and it'll be at the end of the game where it's only helpful for battling PvP and making more money.

I will agree with snoe that it is unfair advantage if not something you need to work for (such as really high prices and end game content). Though people will still find a way to cheat somehow to take the easy road and still get the stats and moves they want.

in my opinion, cheating of any kind for your pokemon stats means you are unworthy of being a trainer because you don't understand what it means to be a trainer. oh great you cheated your pokemon to almost perfect stats. here let me completely demolish you with my hard working pokemon and my SKILL as a trainer to defeat you no matter how strong you think you are.

you can't cheat skill, and if you cheat to the point where you don't need skill to win, then you most likely can't play anyways because no one in their right minds would allow you to battle.

i can sympathize with:
raising amounts of items THAT DONT RAISE STATS(such as potions and what not)
resetting trainers so that you can fight them again
adding a move that was forgotten or that the pokemon should know.

these sort of things dont affect your party in any major way, they'll ensure that you have ample chance to keep your pokemon in a battle, and gain a little more exp, but when it comes to your party face to face with another actual player, and NO ITEMS. it will truely be a battle of skill and who worked the hardest and smartest.

cheating stats is childish and disgusting, and for what? so you can win a battle?

you're no better than those people that hack in Call of Duty to the top prestige thinking that having it will instantly make them god players or something. and then they crap their pants when they play people with actual skill.

Whatever happened to breeding Pokemon to get the right IV's? That is what a lot of people do. We could possibly have a egg checker for potential stats. That might make things faster. With EV training unfortunately you have to grind for them. You do get items that help you get certain stats needed for your Pokemon. RPG's always have had grinding and if people don't like it... Then I'm afraid you're playing the wrong game.

Isn't this the wrong thread? This should be in Suggestions/Feedback?

I am talking only about lowering EVs(which can be lowered so is only a slight thing and not really a major part of my suggestion), Seeing your EVs/IVs, and 'paying' an NPC to either raise or lower your IVs which other wise are almost entirely based on luck(Breeding just makes the luck a bit more focased)

I never said hacking stats made you good at battling. There's still a lot more than simply having good stats (such as type coverage, knowing how to deal with certain threats, being able to identify threats to your team, etc). Trust me, I'm still new to the competitive battling stuff and get my butt kicked often. I lose and I learn and slowly get better. I'm just saying a way to change IVs (based mostly on luck and lots of breeding) and an NPC to tell you the EVs of a Pokemon would make IV/EV training a bit easier. For balance reasons, I said make it end game, like Elite Four must be beaten (even x number of times) first, and still charge a fortune per Pokemon or even per IV point. EV training isn't too bad (There are boosting items and guides for EVs based on Pokemon to fight). I just don't like having to hope to get the right IVs.

These are also just ideas. They can choose to not add it if they don't like it. After all, such a thing isn't in the real games.

And as I said before, it doesn't matter what they do or don't add. People who want to cheat will find a way to cheat. Happens in any game. If they're determined enough to find a way to hack their way in, they'll use it and tell others how to do it as well.

if they are based on luck then keep them that way.

IF and i mean IFFFF we were to allow IV modifying should be limited to the ones A POKEMON ALREADY HAS that means that you can't add IV's but you can move around the ones that are already there

I am 100% AGAINST luck based stats....
completely pointless....
the whole idea about RPGs is to train your character to have the stats you want...and if one of the MAJOR components is entirely luck based then that s no fun and should be removed
I am not against having luck based damage(like multi-hit moves or hidden power's connection to IVs) In fact having more things like hidden power would be cool....but IVs are to crucial to the stats of your pokemon to be as luck based as they are... some sort of way to modify them ingame, whether by beating pokemon(like for EVs) or by paying an ingame fee.

are you yourself not born out of a lucky potpourri of genes?
the concept of IV's was to provide something relatable to stats gained from genes

also since IV's are initial stats they really make the biggest appearence when the pokemon is starting out. after 20 or so levels the differences become more and more balanced to others

IVs have the biggest influence on the stats in the game and I prefer to have all of my pokemon have the exact same potential than the variety....If atleast you could reliably ensure that a pokemon with perfect IVs transfered those to their kid that would be great(like if it holds an everstone while mating the child will get its ability, nature, and IVs) or maybe a mix of both parents instead of three from the mom and the other 3 random like it is now(which is stupid) for being the biggest influence on stats it is the least controlable......and that is bad...

for anyone that doesn't know, gender is based on attack IV's and females get the butt end of that.
