lol i was entering the whole species name so all the code it generated had like "Snake Pokemon Pokemon" in it, fixed the ones I've done and reuploaded. I am up to parasect

now dugtrio, so i'm past #50, yay!

I'm thinking about doing a overhead pokemons and pokemons that swim in ponds and water. But I'm unsure of how to go about it. I know I want it like this
  • Bats=Flap rapidly as trainers past it.
  • Birds=circle around over head in the sky. flap everyonce in a while
  • Buggs=Buzzes around.
  • Ghost=Floats around and vanishes and reappears.
  • Psychic's= Teleports Unless it unowns
  • Unown's=floats about in the ruins and warps into the walls.
  • Fish=Swim around in the water. if you are under the water they will be above you. if you are above surfing about . you'll see one jump up every once in a while.

Also for later if we do get that far. We can add a few things to the rocket center in the ruby/sapphire/emerald locations such as A telescope center,a center for listening to singles from outer space and a rocket research area. I got a idea to use hack roms as other planets if we even get that far :p. ;3 get sent to another planet due to detecting singles from them and such. of course it may be a bit sense some of the hack roms arent translated. (interesting places and characters as well as pokemons but we would have to translate quiet a bit from Spanish and other things.)

That is an excellent idea mate, or maybe just signs that certain types are there, like steel has some shiny rocks, rocks have little rocks scattered in the grass, bats flying through the caves, pokemon deep underwater etc

You could MAYBE do some of the things like the bats as NPCs that move on an invisible floor above you, fish moving on floors under water (requires translucent water). i really like the idea for unowns, it'd make the ruins really eerie to see one every now and then float past and disappear into a wall

we got gym guy :) theres a sheet of every overworld sprite with animation frames on spriters-resource, if its missing from HG/SS ones the other games usually have them

Lol I know right? XD it suit them! lol that how they was in the anime and movies XD.
If we could ... we could do this for legendary's as well. Like the ones that travel across the country side. they would zip around quickly in one location but all you would see is a strike of color that represents them zipping around fast.

Saruish that 'visit other planets' idea is why it'd be really sick to have the pokemon moddable too (so people can make new ones for just their maps)

i pm'd nilllzz asking him to let me work on his pokemon system and put in some other suggestions that are low priority like actual ingame mod support but he hasnt replied back yet. doubtful, but its worth a shot.

cool we might want to make a quest form. cause the other planets would be more of a quest at first that unlocks them.I'm thinking it would require you to help the guy with his research on dark energy which existed in every area but it would be much easier to research in the shadow world or get materials that can reproduce it easier from the shadow world. Then the guy makes a warp drive engine using it. much like how nasa is trying to develop our warp drive using dark energy. XD

heres some ideas on how it could work

mods could work in several ways, as new campaigns that are a whole new set of maps with possibly new pokemon etc that have their own 'game type' that can't trade/battle/coop with players of the base game. these are basically pokemon 3d 'rom hacks'.

as a small collection of maps you can load into from the main game (these would probably need to be approved case by case to see if they can be playable on peoples normal characters without breaking the game). these mods could have different level ranges so they are alternate quests you can go on at various points in the game. these mods would not have new pokemon and would have to not be overgenerous with items etc

and finally as small things like letting people swap sprites clientside etc, kind of like your typical bethesda RPG game cosmetic mod. funny moustaches on all the trainers, play as trainer red, metal suit for your mewtwo. other players you coop'd with would just see the defaults unless they had mods.

the key thing with mod support is keeping them separate and safe, while ensuring that your own files don't get tampered with for cheating etc.

For now, without this kind of support I reckon you could do mod loading via save games, you package a save with your mod and players can change the name and skin (make it part of the installation process if you wanna be fancy) and if they load the save it'd load them into your entry map, so you don't have to mess with the official maps at all, like i did with my route 69 test map
