Not a bad idea. First thing's first, though. Let's build us a beta ;)
Yeah, good luck with this, if you need help mapping or with textures, let me know please.
It's the only thing i am good with other than crash reports (cause i get so many), and overly complicated scripts :p

Thanks... I'm bad at the mapping part, so I may need you when I'm connecting regions. However, all I need for now is to find a map of Pallet Town, I know someone made one already... I can't fine the hyperlink though.

I sense patience then. I'm going to finish the Hoenn story for now. Still thinking about Unova, but adding all the smooth round curves will be a real pain. (Castelia City... FML).

You're right. 4 Regions will be long enough.

(Just got to playing Pokemon Back v2. Actually, Not that bad... A few pokemon in it are cheap, yes and the storyline can get a bit random at some points. For the most point, though, The graphics, music, and storyline are all pretty good. I was able to build my team of pretty awesome pokemon. I've waited pretty long to buy it but that's only of veterans saying how bad the game is. The only think I have to hate on is the poorly drawn pokemon and a few cheap ledgendaries.)

Lol i dont like many of the Pokemon. The region itself is just poor all around. But 4 regions is still pretty big. This will be probably a gig once its all said and done.
But, I am a veteran, and i consider myself as such because yesterday i bought a battery and replaced the one in my Pokemon Silver.
But linking the regions together shouldn't be hard. All 4 have ports. Linking them by (surfable) water would be most....difficult. And time consuming to surf across it.

If you seen the map I've posted, you see where it's going to link. However, to specify HOW it's going to link:

Kanto- Johto (Tojoh Falls): Linked by Land/Water (West of New Bark Town)
Kanto- O.I. (Route A): Linked by surf (South of Fusha* City)
Johto - Hoenn (Johoenn Pass): Dive spot on route 47 to Hoenn Route 125.
Johto - Sinnoh (Sinjoh Pass): Next to the enterance to Mt. Silver is a spot where you can rock climb. You will rock climb to a small path that will go north until you reach Sinnoh. (In the middle of the path is the Pokemon World Championship).

The purpose of the traveling thing it to make the world look huge all together. The ship "ports" will be used as something like a battling ship. Every time you go on board, there will be trainers to battle.

It will help out, also, to put natural blocks also.
You can't get to Johto without HM Waterfall
You can't get to Hoenn without HM Dive
You can't get to Sinnoh without HM Rock Climb
You can't get to O.I. without HM Whirlpool

All which will be accessible when progressing through the story.

I really think a ferry system would fix the problem with travelling between regions.
I believe that once you complete a region, you get a ticket to the next.
When you go there and arrive in the new region, an event occurs or you meet the Professor of that region.
After the event you are taken to the starting town. The professor of the region takes your pokemon from the previous region and places it in the PC.

You begin the story new in a new region, and grow a new party. You are stuck inside the region until you hit the port city of that region. From that point, the option to ferry to previously completed regions is now permanently enabled. However all pokemon that you have gained in the current region have to stay until you return. All pokemon from other completed regions will be re accessible to use.

Once you come back to the unfinished region you swap out your pokemon again and receive the party for the current region continuing your journey.

Once you complete the Elite Four of that region you are allowed access to all your pokemon.

Repeat this process until all regions are unlocked.

There are two seperate PC systems. a regional PC that stores the pokemon you are using in the current unfinished region and the National PC which is accessible on all completed regions. Once you complete all region, the pokemon in regional PC's merge into the National PC.

BUT WAIT THERES MORE!

After beating all the regions you get access to a special event which takes you back in time and you get to play KANTO! With the original 151 Pokemon and no access whatsoever to other regions until you complete the Kanto Storyline.

BUT HOLD YOUR JIMMIES I GOT MORE FOR YOU!

A FINAL ULTIMATE MASTER MODE IS UNLOCKED. It's simply the same game but NUZLOCKE!!!!!!

good idea? good idea.
