Should be forgettable, that's not cool to doom pokemons with Flash/Cut/etc. without possibility to relearn.

Originally the HM moves are like that. I don't see why we need to change that. I got 2-3 pokes that are used only for HM moves.

Usually you can go to a move deleter and make your pokemon forget HM moves. I think he's in Blackthorn city, so we'll probably be able to make them forget HM moves once the developers finish that city. :) Until that happens, I get by by using extra pokes for HM moves (sandshrew/sandslash is a great cave explorer, it can learn lots of HMs). ;)

I am posting a link to the infamous Forgettable HM thread. It was a very heavily discussed topic but ultimately was utterly rejected by the Dev team(and myself) there are very many reasons why NOT to change the core basic of the game just because people want to teach hydro pump to their water type but can't find any room.

HMs will never change I can assure you

here's the link:

But what if someone puts their HMs into storage, surfs out to some random island, and overwrites surf???

Obviously this is something that can be done by accident so HMs have to be permanent.

more reasonable to make them forgettable than adding NPC skill deleter
and still it's kinda stupid to trash pokemon 4 skills list with HMs to cut some trees or cross different water types etc.
would be better to have this as Trainer skills (there are enough battle skills without HMs)

that goes against the whole foundation of what a pokemon game is, it's your pokemon that help you navigate the world. not you.

secondly you are COMPLETELY ignoring the fact that having forgettable HM's would lead to getting stuck in places such as islands, such as caves, waterfalls, whirlpools, and mountains.

And for what? just to learn some silly move? yes, HM's are a pain sometimes, but you DEAL WITH IT. if you want to create an actual competitive team, Ditto-breed your exact team, so now you have your whole team, without HM's, or you know, you could actually go to the MOVE DELETER and do it there.

another thing to consider is that not every player is old enough to comprehend the importance of HM's if you make them forgettable then you have a lot of 9 year olds not being able to play the game because they're stuck in WhirlPool islands, and they dont have a flying pokemon, and they're only pokemon that learned whirlpool forgot it so it could learn confuse ray, also, they left their HM's in their pc, either that or they're not willing to make their pokemon forget confuse ray to relearn whirlpool.

it, just, makes, sense. do not question a game mechanic that has been implemented for over 20 years. im pretty sure GameFreak knows what the heck it is doing

Yeah, surf on Squirtle with Trainer and 5 150-300kg pokemons like Onix/Golem/Machamp/Charizard etc. really realistic navigation. Foundation will be broken with changes, definitely. Lets do nothing and hide from them.

And stop making this stupid example with stuck in places, they still will have a disk to relearn it if they miss with their illogically action.
TM system almost same as HM. Not infinitive but it's forgettable
All I see is that no one wants to bother with this, so just write as it is, rather than trying to convince others with useless
theories about world foundations and endless space with life in it.

you're missing the point, just because you are smart enough to remember "oh wait i need to reteach this HM for a little bit" does not mean everyone is on the same boat, all games have to be made in such a way that any one can play without worrying about people getting stuck over stupid mistakes such as forgetting an HM such as surf, in the middle of the ocean.

just because YOU think that you can still manage without HM's does not mean everyone else can, games are built for the masses, not for the individual

That's the spirit of commercial games, not indie

My discussion is over
Pokemon3D is an idie game in the sense of the developers making it from scratch HOWEVER it is using the Pokemon components. this is NOT a custom pokemon game, this IS an adaptation of the pokemon games following the same mechanics of pokemon, the vanilla game follows the same story as the Crystal version.

poke3D is essentially the crystal version on a 3D map. that's what it has always been and always will. Yes there are elements from HG and SS such as berries, but that's it. so no, just because it's poke3D does nto mean it a custom pokemon game, it is following after a set model.

That is the spirit that should be held by anyone who wants to gain a good following and see their game go far
make it so anyone can play if they want without getting completely lost
Overall there are very good very legitimate reasons that Nintendo put that mechanic in.
Also I believe we will be implementing Item storage which was removed in gen 4 on because even though the bag is infinate not every Item will be used/wanted(this might not happen though so...dont take this as truth just a possibility)
overall as much as we hate this mechanic we would even more hate not having it because of the amount of people who will try this and get stuck would get annoying and an overall pain in the @$$

I'm just saying...if you have a problem with the way Pokemon 3D is being coded, by all means, go ahead and stop playing this game, and MAKE YOUR OWN. If you have the capabilities, the intelligence, and the patience to go and create a successful game like this, then do it. If you don't (and I'm 90% sure about this) then don't tell the developers how to run their own game. If they want to base it off of the backbone of the original Pokemon games (which is a great idea) then they should be allowed to, especially considering the fact that they wrote the game themselves, and are even KIND enough to let you play for free.
