For various reasons I decided to replay Heart Gold this week. I haven't done a Nuzlocke Challenge in awhile so I decided I would do that, however a nuzlocke gets annoying without someone to talk about it with so why I figured i would post a "daily log" of sorts here so you guys can laugh at me when one of those Electrodes in the TR Hideout explodes in my face....
Also since these games have one of the lowest level curves I am thinking of using it as a warm up for doing my other games too...
Platinum atleast, and potentially Black 2, Y, Omega Ruby, and Fire Red
The Rules:
The Tradition: aka the Death Clause - if a Pokemon faints it is "Dead" and will get put in the PC at the first possible chance.
The Aesthetic: Nicknames for all!
The Challenge: For all Gym Challenges, Team Rocket Encounters, and other similar "challenges" I will use Set battle style. For the sake of grinding I will leave it as shift on routes and caves (no EXP share til after the Red Gyarados is annoying...)
The One and Only: First Pokemon found on each Route/cave/town is the only I can catch(ignored til I get first Pokeballs), ignore any repeat Pokemon when determining this. The following count as multiple places:
The Sticky Situation Solver: If I do not have a pokemon that can search for and catch a pokemon for it(thinking mostly of Surf here). It gets boxed as soon as I have a replacement, and it cannot be sent out in battle
Let me know if there is anything I could do to make this entertaining or something( though I am sure my witty commentary is fine the way it is
) I plan to play atleast one Gen 6 game as a "WonderLocke"(wonder trade each new catch)
I would record but i dont have/want to pay for a capture card for my 3DS(if someone wants to buy it for me I still might not do it so don't) and dont really feel like putting in the time to do a proper nuzlocke LP anyways so....

The two parts of Dark Cave.
The sub levels of Union Cave and the Main Floor.
both of these are for the simple fact that they aren't accessible til much later than the other part.(plus I probably will want a Lapras

This was a long day. I completed the light house, went to Cianwood, beat the gym, and then did some strategic catches to get a Heracross. The Lighthouse was rather easy and and didnt take very long to complete. Surfing to Cianwood was also rather easy but took what seemed like forever(esp since I fought every pokemon to gain more exp). The Cianwood gym was rather easy with Bo Peep and Hooters though I did use a number of Potions against Chuck. Leaving the gym got me the best gift ever!(HM 02-Fly)after I brought the Secret Potion to Amphy I began a series of strategic wild encounter to get me the strongest Heracross possible. I caught a spearow on Route 42 and a Aipom on Route 46 so when I headbutted a tree on the very south end of Route 45 I could ignore them and catch Jason, the level 24 Heracross! Tomorrow will be the Sixth Gym+major grinding.

I realized that I really didnt need much more grinding so after grabbing Pugers to use as emergency death fodder I challenged Rival D. Jon Slow took out his Gastly with no issues, Magnemite fell to a Magnitude from Rock Star, and Bo Peep took out his Zubat and Crocnaw, Pudgers lived to see another day too! After that I decided I wanted to train Hooters to get Confusion as that would help with the gym filled with Ghost/Poison Pokemon. A quick trip back to the National Park earned me a Pinsir(Bug Catching contest), an evolution, and a new move! Using Hooters(and Jon Slow whenever Hooters got cursed) I easily swept through the entire gym! I battled my way through Route 38 before ending for the day.

This day consisted of alot of grinding Jon Slow and Bo Peep to battle "Rival D". After enough grinding I swept him with no real issue. In Ilex forest I failed when catching a Metapod(!@$!$@ Crits!) but other wise was uneventful. On route 34 I saw Lyra who introduced me to her Grandparents(the daycare couple) and gave me her number(and that denial was a bit too strong....now I am suspicious...). I successfully caught a Drowzee I named Drozzo before moving on to Goldenrod. After clearing the Underground I challenged the gym. Very aware of what Rollout could do to my team I left Hooters in the box and brought Ziki along as death fodder. Saddly I needed to sacrifice two Pokemon to defeat Whitney, Ziki and Steve. Not wanting to dwell on their passing I headed straight to Ecruteak City, dealing with the Sudowoodo on the way. I failed to catch a Ditto, and caught a Stantler and a Pidgey(Stany and Pugers) on the way. As the day was ending I visited the Kimono Girl's theatre and defeated a Team Rocket Grunt and recieved surf. Rival D is up ahead again so tomorrow will be more grinding.

Day 2:
This continues to be very easy though I am definitely setting myself up for difficulties tomorrow...
Rock Star and Hooters Destroyed the Violet Gym with ease(Hooters ignored the accuracy spam and out stalled anything that blinded Rock Star)
Route 32 added Bo Peep the Mareep(Level 6) but cost me H-God to crit hax....
Union Cave without a grass or Water type was annoying but not hard. Steve the Sandshrew(Level 6) joined the team in the cave.
The rain on Route 33 almost screwed me over b/c Mako couldn't do anything to the trainer's Geodude but with enough time Tackle spam worked fine. Ziki the Zubat(Level 4) joined the team.
Team Rocket was being Team Rocket so I ofc thrashed them and sent them crying from Slowpoke Well. I caught Jon Slow the Slowpoke(Level 8) shortly after.
I didnt even need Mako for the gym, letting Hooters do the grunts and Rock Star swept Bugsy.
Now here is the problem....Rival D has a Water type that is stronger than any of my pokemon. I would use Bo Peep but I don't think he is strong enough yet...Lots of grinding will happen tomorrow...
Pokemon Caught/Failures:

Day 1:
I received my starter and named if Mako (yes LOK reference).
Simply traveling to Mr. Pokemon's house and back got me to Level 9 which proves exactly why these games are so easy... tackle is a 2HKO at that point...
Destroying the red headed thief was far easier that remembering the name I saw on the trainer card he dropped...When the Cop asked I could only remember "D"(I was originally typing "Dumb Ass" and then decided it was too childish and was deleting it to type "Killgore" but accidentally hit return when it was just D
)
Lyra (why can't I rename you "Crystal" or "Kris" or something....) gave me the last thing I needed to begin the Nuzlocke so now the challenge begins!
The trip to Violet City was uneventful except for a failed catch.
The closest I came to having trouble was Elder Li's Hoothoot with Hypnosis... Mako evolved afterwards though
Pokemon Caught/Failures:
Mako(Cyndaquil) Level 5 - New Bark Town
Hooters(Hoothoot) Level 3 - Route 29
Spinarak Level 2 - Route 30 Failed to catch b/c crit...
Rock Star(Geodude) Level 3 - Front half of Dark Cave
H-God(Bellsprout) Level 3 - Route 31
Rattata Level 6 - Sprout Tower Wasn't paying attention to what I was doing....
