Pokemon3D has crashed..

I downloaded the game, installed .NET Framework 4.0 and XNA Framework 4.0 and C++ 2010 and when I try to start the game [0.21 aka latest] the game crashes with this error:
"Pokemon3D has crashed!
Song playback failed. ~something about DRM can't really remember.."

I should mention that I am using Windows XP SP2 32bit
The thread you linked me includes windows 7 64bit..

The same thing happens to me as skyetm. I too use windows XP, though I think mine is 64bit. When I click the game Icon the game pops up with the updates and what not. I then go to click 'start game' thats when it closes and an error message pops up. All it says for me is that something happened -doesn't specify sadly- and that it had to close.

just try the same sort of things

this may help: another poster with the same issue reinstalled windows media player, the game worked afterwards. this isn't something we can fix on our end, your computer can't play the files for some reason. try the updates and windows media player and see if any of it makes it work.

oh, have you tried these things?

the game needs XNA 4.0 refresh's runtimes. this is the very latest XNA runtime and not every XNA game you've played will have used this version. please try downloading both runtimes and installing them and see if it resolves your issue.

it worked. had to do the redistribution update. the link you gave didn't help but I found it easily enough, it's http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20914 once i downloaded it, the game works fine. thanks a ton for all your help and being so patient with me.

Spoke too soon. The game allowed me to play, but when I choose my starter pokemon, it wont let me rename or cancel. I can go back and forth with the arrow keys between the two but that's it. I can't even exit or anything. It finally did it but after about five minutes of just letting it sit there. I was able to input the name but had to wait another five minutes before I could move on with the game. Is it a possible glitch?

Also is there a way to move the game screen elsewhere on my computer? Part of the left side is cut off.

Ok thanks ^^ now all I need to figure out, is why everything lags when trying to move around. It's fine when I'm in a building or in battle, but otherwise it lags terribly.

i am having the same problem, im getting song playback failed when i try to launch the game. i have XP SP3 but i dont have WMP anywhere on my hdd, thats the weird part. any ideas on this one? u think i could just delete the media files in the folder on comp and it would work?

you need windows media player installed to play the music, and if it cant play the music it crashes with that error. don't remove the files either, that won't help at all lol
