I lost my Progress

Like Lance I love dragon types. I was working on evolving my dragonair to beat the elite four. I saw the update and for some reason thought a third region was added giving me something to look forward to after Kanto. Much to my surprise my old game is gone now and I have to start from the beginning?... This is kind of upsetting but I will understand I guess. It would be nice if we could at least start with a pokemon of choice like dratini and further more since this game doesn't have to follow the old games I think the starters should be able to be found in the wild. All in all I like this too much to complain seriously but it was pretty upsetting that my HOURS of game play was for naught.

What exactly did you do in order to update?
Did you just open the launcher as usual, updated, and went on starting the game?

Or did you manually redownload the launcher from the page?

Open yer lawnchair, click settings, then files.
Its probably stored there.

same thing happens to me when i update, i agree its agrivating, makes me shy away from this game and not want to play it if i cant keep my saved file even tho its an awesome game.

Maybe you should consider making an online account? (One of its perks is that the save files are stored on the clouds, and can easily be restored if for some reason it was lost)
you can still play on local, but your saves won't be stored on your computer.

While I agree with you about the fact that it's easier, it's also a bit of a harsh hit to them to simply start over.

But he said he lost it, it's not like he's asking to get trade pokemons or something like that.....his entire offline save got wiped out.

He can always recreate his offline save, but it's too much of a hassle and once you start editing your save....you can't stop.

Perhaps, though maybe after getting the new launcher, he placed it somewhere else than his original place and seeing as the save folder is stored locally and only accessed if the save folder is in the Pokemon folder next to the launcher that is currently being used, he could simply move over the old save folder to the new place.
Maybe I misunderstood the thread, but we've had this happen in the past before.

I know that, Again, I was mentioning the perks of having an online account over an offline account, I know nilllzz is more concerned on why this happens,
The thing is, apparently people who lost their offline save before still restarted the game with another offline save only to be lost again.
