Maybe try a new archiver program and disable your anti-virus for the meanwhile?

Ugh...um....I had 7 viruses on my laptop last week and I had to get it repaired so..I don't want to risk it XD
Maybe that is the reason parts of your system are rather.. broken?

hmm. but zip files don't require a new archiver program at all.

Well, normally Windows Explorer from Windows Vista (I think) upwards can handle zip files, but when you set the default program for .zip files to be something like WInrar, that program will open them.
What windows version are you on?
