Game update, where can i progress to??

Okay, so i need to advance to pallet, saffron, the cerulean cave, or fushcia but they are all blocked in their own way. Is there any way to access in the 4.8 update or do i have to wait more??

Well, im more or less lost on what to do with cerulean cave since it just says its limited to the best of trainers but that doesnt really set me in any direction on how to go about getting in.

Go to the museum in pewter city and talk to the scientist, he'll tell you to go and come back after 10 min, talk to him then go to vermillion city, and talk to the guy next to the speed boat.
