Trainer
With all those upcoming features based all around the multiplayer gameplay, I was wondering if there'd be a way to make this game an actual co-op-able one - playing with a friend, being equally involved in the progress, etc. So once the battle engine is up to the point, where a two man joint teamfight vs an NPC might be possible, I thought about something like this (and while I know, this might not suit everyones taste in a way, that'd make it canon, an option to do it on your local server might be worth a shot):
You start a game and have your friend come in. There you make use of mentioned option and 'join' eachother. Now one of you (maybe with an option to swap the burden of walking manually inbetween) is able to walk around and do stuff, encounter wilds, encounter trainer-fights and play the game just as usual, while the other one gets to spectate him walking, but still has his own 'start-menu'. Both of you have a team of 6 different pokemon and are able to manage them seperately own their own accord. Now in the fights (which is the main idea here) you encounter two wild pokemon/ the enemy sends always two of his pokemon at you to always result in a double fight, where the leader choses his action and so does the partner with his team. So basically two seperate teams. A shared inventory where for example both can catch one of the two opposing pokemon, or one weakens them and the other one gets all of them. If both chose to run, you run. If one of you blacks out, it's over (this'd make it harder aswell). Naturally you'd still be able to fight eachother with your teams, if u chose to do so whenever you want. Thus you'd be able to play the game in a co-op way that'd be so much more than just walking around on the same map telling eachother whatever cool stuff just happend to you while minding your own buisiness and of course the occasional friendly fight.
Now I know there'd be a lot of issues with the system itself:
- what if one is in the menu, while the leader encounters a wild? maybe the partner would just be able to access his menu when the leader choses to do so himself
- a team of 3 pokemon instead of six on each player might be better due to balancing issues
- instead of a shared inventory, a leader's inventory with shared access is more realistic i guess?
- interacting with the pc would force you to chose whom's team you want to manage beforehand
- and I'm guessing the biggest problem (?): making all trainer based fights into teamfights
These were probably by far not all of the problems but i guess my main idea was made clear and my point was kinda just to show how I'd like to play the game with a friend in a more co-op-ish way and to see how that idea is recieved by the community anyways^^
