A different co-op experience

With all those upcoming features based all around the multiplayer gameplay, I was wondering if there'd be a way to make this game an actual co-op-able one - playing with a friend, being equally involved in the progress, etc. So once the battle engine is up to the point, where a two man joint teamfight vs an NPC might be possible, I thought about something like this (and while I know, this might not suit everyones taste in a way, that'd make it canon, an option to do it on your local server might be worth a shot):

You start a game and have your friend come in. There you make use of mentioned option and 'join' eachother. Now one of you (maybe with an option to swap the burden of walking manually inbetween) is able to walk around and do stuff, encounter wilds, encounter trainer-fights and play the game just as usual, while the other one gets to spectate him walking, but still has his own 'start-menu'. Both of you have a team of 6 different pokemon and are able to manage them seperately own their own accord. Now in the fights (which is the main idea here) you encounter two wild pokemon/ the enemy sends always two of his pokemon at you to always result in a double fight, where the leader choses his action and so does the partner with his team. So basically two seperate teams. A shared inventory where for example both can catch one of the two opposing pokemon, or one weakens them and the other one gets all of them. If both chose to run, you run. If one of you blacks out, it's over (this'd make it harder aswell). Naturally you'd still be able to fight eachother with your teams, if u chose to do so whenever you want. Thus you'd be able to play the game in a co-op way that'd be so much more than just walking around on the same map telling eachother whatever cool stuff just happend to you while minding your own buisiness and of course the occasional friendly fight.

Now I know there'd be a lot of issues with the system itself:
- what if one is in the menu, while the leader encounters a wild? maybe the partner would just be able to access his menu when the leader choses to do so himself
- a team of 3 pokemon instead of six on each player might be better due to balancing issues
- instead of a shared inventory, a leader's inventory with shared access is more realistic i guess?
- interacting with the pc would force you to chose whom's team you want to manage beforehand
- and I'm guessing the biggest problem (?): making all trainer based fights into teamfights

These were probably by far not all of the problems but i guess my main idea was made clear and my point was kinda just to show how I'd like to play the game with a friend in a more co-op-ish way and to see how that idea is recieved by the community anyways^^

We have long been against full co-op/mmo
We want the game to remain basically single player game
The servers dont compromise the actual game while giving people some social connections

I totally agree with Darkfire, if this was implemented this would create an mmo environment which I would hate

BUT

This idea should not be totally be ruled out. How about instead of having a co-op battle against npcs and wild pokemon, you have a co op 2v2 pvp whereby 2 players tag team to battle 2 other players as a tag team. That's all I desire, no co op double battle npc crap (Strictly pvp). I know this idea has been suggested several times the past because I have been looking through past threads but I haven't seen anyone officially say that this feature is going to implemented. Assumptions just seem made that it will. Darkfire if you and the rest of the development team are planning on developing this feature, I suggest while working on double battle system where one player battles against another player with two pokemon at a time, you work on the co-op double team battle pvp where 2players tag team fight against other 2 other players in a double battle simultaneously

It is my dying hope that this will be implemented sometime in the future when double battles come out. Fun levels of this game would fly through the roof. I know many players want this to happen so badly.

And to those who argue against my idea saying it wont work because each player will have 6 pokemon. When a tag team battle does, happen a player must select 3 of their pokemon to battle therefore there is a total of six pokemon in each tag team.

Again re emphasize the point that my idea is solely and only for pvp. The moment we mention players being able to battle with other players in double battle against wild pokemon, npcs and gym leaders, several complications will occur that will compromise the main gameplay of this game.

My opinion has been expressed!.

Teaming up to fight NPC's has occured in canon, with you teaming with a friendly NPC to beat another one (Steven & you vs Team Magma, for example). It wouldn't be a bad idea to implement something like that, but maybe have it occur only in specific places, like the battle frontier. You could also implement a level cap for team-ups to prevent a much stronger trainer from aiding a weaker one too much (eg; trainer with lvl70 mons battle with lvl30 trainer against lvl50 or something npc).

But wouldn't this mean that there might not be xp gain in these co-op battles as a lv30 trainer might be teamed with a lv100 trainer and it wouldn't be fair that one of them actually had to do work (leveling up). There probably wouldn't be access to the Elite Four when this option is on seeing as the winner is registered in the hall of fame. Nonetheless, I would love to tag battle.

With rules like:
2 players = maximum 3 pokes for both...
gym leaders/elite 4 not included in coop battles..
PvP battles will be cool with that 2x2 pokes
in normal game, only trainers with 2,4 or 6 pokes can battle in this mode.
