Stuck in Kanto

I forgot to get a radio in the Johto region, and i am unable to get a pokeflute to move forward in the game. I also cant take the SS aqua to go back and get radio. I have no idea how I'm supposed to move forwards. Any help is greatly appreciated.

press shift while in fly map to swich regions

I thought the radio was required to progress through the game (because Whitney is there trying to get the answers correct). But yeah, catch a flying Pokemon, teach it fly, then make your way back.

The Pokégear's Radio is needed to wake up Snorlax.

It is not required to fight Whitney with the Radio...

It might just be in HG, but when you enter Goldenrod, she is not in the gym, but at the radio tower trying to get the Radio chip...thing...for her Pokegear.
