Fixed [0.45.1] Can give items to Eggs

I discovered by pure chance that I could give an Oran berry to an Egg, and I'm pretty sure you aren't meant to be able to...
Haven't test with other items besides berries, but I'd presume that if it can hold berries, it can hold whatever else a normal 'mon could...

Yes, but Egg's aren't meant to level up or have items affect them - they don't in the main games, and it doesn't make sense either! :(
Also, discovered that you can use items on eggs as well - the Iron stat booster boosted the egg's defence...
EDIT:
Forgot to mention they also seem to hatch with a copy of whatever the mother/father was holding (I only ditto breed so presuming non-ditto 'mon). For example, a Totadile holding a Oran berry bred with a Ditto gives an egg which hatches into a Totadile holding an Oran berry. This shouldn't happen. I could easily see people breeding quick-hatching 'mon and expoiting this for infinite amounts of rare items such as Rare/Gold Candy, Nuggets, etc.

The item giving/using is probably correct (didnt try yet, but seems likely that I overlooked that), but the item spawn however (the oran berry in your example) is taken from the original games by GameFreak where wild/egg Pokémon hold certain items when they appear. For example, the Johto starters have a 100% chance of spawning with an Oran berry.
It doesn't work as you described it though and the parent items don't affect this.

Huh, nifty. Is there a list saying what 'mon holds what? Is it updated for beyond Gen II 'mons?
