Item loss in Azalea Gym

This is the second time I lost all my items there.
In my first online save I lost all my items after I defeated the first Gym Leader.
In that save I played on till my save file corrupted. After that I reseted my game file.
And now after the second trainer battle, I lost al my items again. Everything in my bag is gone!
This very annoying and demotivates me to play any further. I found out about it after I saved, so there is probaly no way to bring the items back that way. What has happened and is there any way to fix it?

I cannot think of any reason for this to happen other than you have an extremely corrupted save file. Nobody else has reported something similar to this.

How can I start a new save file, without this happening again?
I really want to give it another try, but I do want to know that I'm safe from save file corruption in my third character.

Restoring items is pretty difficult given how many there are. I can try and restore your key items and just give you some money so you can buy the rest of the items if you'd like. Just message me your Gamejolt ID and token so I can sign into your account and try and mitigate the damage. Also, let me know what key items you had so I can restore those.

Could you also post your log.dat file for me?
