My mistake then. Thanks for clearing that up.
lapras, a water pokemon with a supposed water absorb doesn't absorb any water attacks. and catchin fainted pokemon isn't a bad idea, especially if its rare and u accidentally made it faint, come on

It might not be that bad of an idea, but it ruins a lot that Pokémon sticks to.

It's a terrible idea that would make the game too easy and completely remove any amount of challenge that it has retained. Catching pokemon is already easy enough. There are tons of methods that make it easier, my personal favorite being a Parasect with False Swipe and Spore. The only things that doesn't really work on are Shuppet/Banette and Phantump due to their ghost typing giving them immunity to false swipe, and ability Insomnia giving them immunity to sleep. HOWEVER. there are other ways of ensuring something is brought to low enough health to be easily caught, such as dragon rage, sonic boom, night shade, seismic toss, and any other move that does fixed damage or damage based on the user's level. Plus stun spore is another status that raises the catch rate of pokemon inflicted with it, although not as much as sleep.
