So you want to convert your online save to an offline save? Not sure if this has been asked before, but i think the ability to download your save data from gamejolt would be awesome. It would also save some time from having to play 2 games and advance them.
That's the thing, i don't want someone else's save but rather my own. Lets say you don't have internet, gamejolt is temporarily down or you would just like to play a lan server. You could have your save file with out having to start all, also if you format you pc or your data gets corrupted... there's always a backup. So you want to convert your online save to an offline save?
i am not adverse to that but i am not sure it is practical
In my signature there is a dev pack which contains a partial save(should have 8 badges and the league beat)which you can use to get your self upto date?
I think it would break the purpose of even having an online save in Gamejolt, since this save system was created to stop cheaters from...cheatingThat's the thing, i don't want someone else's save but rather my own. Not really sure how being able to play your progress offline, has anything to do with cheating. It's not like i'm asking for the ability to re-import it back online to cheat. Just the fact that if you progress online and eventually don't want to play online anymore, you can still have your progress with out starting all over. I don't think your understanding my point at all, or your thinking of the wrong impression it's suppose to mean.I think it would break the purpose of even having an online save in Gamejolt, since this save system was created to stop cheaters from...cheating
So its probably a no, sorry...
Well, I seeNot really sure how being able to play your progress offline, has anything to do with cheating. It's not like i'm asking for the ability to re-import it back online to cheat. Well if you don't have internet, you technically loose everything anyways. At least if you could retrieve all your pokemon, team and progression; it still allows you to be able to play offline/lan with friends without completely restarting.Well, I see
But the point is, that you wont be able to play online again with that save, and aknowleging this, IMO, thats not too useful, because the main features of pokemon 3d are only avaliable on online play
If you think this way, what is the point of losing all your ev trained pokemon, pokemon with very good Iv's, level 100 pokemon, made specially for online play
I dont think this is getting implemented, but you can always keep trying...
Because it's a big deal here, we don't want a GTS full of mewsWell if you don't have internet, you technically loose everything anyways. I'm also still unclear why everyone keeps talking about cheating?
Offline is still Offline and Online is still Online? So... how does cheating come between?Because it's a big deal here, we don't want a GTS full of mews
The thing is, that a online save and an offline save are almost completely differentOffline is still Offline and Online is still Online? So... how does cheating come between?
Your answer didn't really specify how taking Online Save Data and making it Offline would effect online users at all?
We are not talking about reimporting the downloaded save into the online save again.Because it's a big deal here, we don't want a GTS full of mews
That is not true. The thing is, that a online save and an offline save are almost completely different
If you were to retrieve an online save to offline, it will still have access to the GTS and to online battles, and so on, meaning if you go back online and load that save, it will still have these features, but you could have edited the save, making it very easy to cheat
And the save state in early versions, that was only offline, it could be easely edited, and the shiny 31 IV pokemon were so common, and thats why we created the gamejolt save thing, to prevent people generating pokegods
I took prevention against data corruption last version. When the GameJolt server returns any suspicious return values for saving online, it creates backup files that we can apply to your online save that will then be recovered to the state right before saving the game. If that ever occurs to you, just upload the backup file to the dedicated forum in the Support forum. These files also get created when the game crashes. With so many IFs its hard for me not to ask - if ur so afraid that ur save file might get corrupted or u can lose ur connection, why just not start with an offline save ???? I my self am taking screenshots of my boxes so in case of a file corruption there is a chance that my pokemon will be restored ( its not like the story takes that long for me to worry about it) . And even if they are not restored by the staff getting them back is not so hard as there are many friendly memebers who would help me get them .
I admit that being able to download ur online save is OK but only as long as u cant bring that save to online again afterwards .
And he did specify - Cheating ! I don't want to see OP pokemon going around the GTS and eventually ending up in my opponent's party or a party of 6 Mews , Darkrais and so on ( which can still happen but it will be way more rare ) .
The save gets downloaded into RAM anyways, but I will not save the game on the harddrive while the game is in online mode. How about this?
what if you could download your GameJolt save to use it in offline and online and still be the same (as in same I mean the progress you make offline you could continue in online to) but the specific GameJolt account(s) files would be encrypted to make it very difficult for people to cheat in things like items, Pokemon, move disks, etc and not be able to cheat in general (maybe)
It would be better that way.
I think that would be a great option to have. but as for the sprite issue, it wouldn't be too much of an issue since you can always edit it (assuming the downloaded save would be formated the same way as the offline save)So now to the requested feature:
I might enable the download of the GameJolt save sometime in the future, and just save the downloaded data as another offline save. The only problem I see right now might be the sprite that can't be retrieved in offline mode. And since you cannot get any Emblem points in offline mode, you would be stuck with your current trainer level sprite, for example the Waiter sprite.
But other than that, there's no real challenge in converting the online save to an offline save.
