If I download a mod, say either the HD music pack or the battle animations, will they still be there in the next official update?

Yes and no. They will continue to provide content if it still exists in the update, but if there's an area with new music, or a new battle animation, the game will crash.

So it is best to clear your Content Pack list and await an update.

Tornado, I think that you are too alarmist.

I'm using the same Music Pack (Anime Cries) since like the version 0.30 and I have never had problems.

The Content Pack Feature was made to allow the Content Pack to be usefull in every version, they just replace non core things, like Music or graphics. The Mods replaced the codes, that are more complicated and they doesn't work in every version

Music packs do not affect bugs unless Nilllzz breaks it as stated.

Texture Packs might be an issue when new textures get added and they haven't been textured by the creator of said pack. (Remember the issue with the Ice Path? Yes, that.)

content packs that affect your daily gameplay through ways other than texture and music, then yes, they might cause an issue.

@Daniel 'RTRD', I guess it is time for you to make an "Untrusted Support" tag.

I would say yes... But no if you have a mod on there like an edit to a map.
