My Houndour evolved into one. Some may recall that scene (you may need to dig around in the fixed bugs forum.)

Next: Metapod.
WHAT???????
Yes, it was quite bizarre. I thought I needed a Fire Stone to evolve it (which actually isn't the case), but the game let me use it anyways. I guess because the script didn't know what to evolve it into it pulled the first Pokémon data entered (which I think is Caterpie).

Next: Metapod.

I actually don't know why caterpie.... since caterpie isn't Pokemon #01. Caterpie is #10 (So someone must've made a typo somewhere. :D )

Well maybe it was something similar to Rhydon's position in the hexadecimal values in Generation I.

>only played gen 3

Explain.
Rhydon was the first Pokémon ever programmed, therefore it's first in the hex list. When an unknown Pokémon is read, it pulls the first one out of the list. That Pokémon might be Caterpie for this game.
Oh, that story. I know about that....
You used some fancy word a non-native like me didn't understand. But I get it. And who knows, maybe. I'd go with the typo, though.

We made it the default over bulbasaur
just like how tackle(ID 33) was the default for awhile over pound(ID 1)(pound is now the default but for something slightly different)
