Pokemon don't die, they faint. - Prof. Oak (also, it is a generation 5 thing)

How does the difficulty settings work?

Difficulty settings increases the levels & potion usage of trainers & gym leaders.

Yes, the secret areas are hard to find, because they are secret.

How do people get the pokemon that arent available naturally in online mode?

There has been a competition where people won them & then breeded & traded it away.

They were given away/distributed through a thread on the trading forums. Right now the thread is frozen and Pokemon aren't given away however it will be revived once the update hits. (If there are no GTS bugs....)
And there are chances of people cheating but they will get instantly banned if they are caught.

Because as your Pokemon level up and get stronger they need to fight Pokemon with a level equivalent to theirs (Or higher) to get a lot of experience.
It kind of makes sense to not gain the same xp from the same lvl as you lvl up....

The exp thing was a gen 5 feature
It takes your level and divides your oppenent's by it and then multiplies the exp it gets by that number

I only played gen 3.... but.... it kind of doesn't make sense if it wasn't in there but then again.... Pokelogic.
I am questioning myself right now whether it was like that in gen 3.....
