Simplified 'EV'-system?

I've played Pokémon White on an emulator and when I finally understood the whole EV-system, I kinda just left it at that and never used it as it seems too much of a hassle. However, I was thinking yesterday, what if you could in fact earn points like EV's from wild and trainer Pokémon, but you yourself could assign those points to whatever you want your Pokémon to be better at (attack, defense, HP, etc) instead of having a hard time finding and grinding the right Pokémon for the EV's you want. Lot's of games use this type of system and I think it would be cool to costumize your Pokémon a little to be good at what you want to use it for.
Ofcourse, everything is only good in moderation, so these points should not be too easily obtainable etc, but that shouldn't be the problem.

tl;dr:
'EV'-points assignable to stats rather than grinding the same fucking Pokémon for the right stat.

im more of the present-day blizzard school of thought on this sort of thing, that a level should be a level and when you level your stats grow to be the stats of a character of your class at that level, no putting points in stats.

however, this systems a pretty big part of the pokemon leveling system and i dont think we'll see any sort of simplification any time soon from nilllzz. it'd be a kinda polarizing issue too i think.

pokemons an excellent example of simplicity with depth, easy to pick up and hard to master. a lot of that depth comes from the moves and the sheer number of pokemon available but there this one little weird magic number spreadsheet thing for nerds that most players won't find by themselves.

i feel a good compromise is to leave the system as is, but expose the bloody numbers. i don't even get why they're hidden at all in the hand held games, if all the numbers were there and you knew they had gone up it'd be easier to figure out WHY.

what i'd really love is to be able to set a setting called like 'battle information' or something and if you crank it up the text box at the bottom will say more stuff. ____ gained 600 xp! EVS: +3 Atk +1 Def and so on. if you don't care you leave the setting lower. the lowest setting could say even less than the game does now for people that want the battle over quick.

One of the frustrations was indeed not being able to see the numbers and seeing your collected EV's after a battle would seem like a reasonable addition that could take away some of the frustration.

i feel that a PC game with a lot of numbers really must expose them all, we get so much screen real estate and things can be crammed into tooltips you mouse over something to see.

at least in p3d you can open your save and look at your party.dat and clearly see exactly what the EVs are but that involves notepad and knowing the numbers are in there, thats still too obscure

I like to have the numbers exposed as well was recently testing out the PokeMmo to see if it was any good and they pretty much allow u to have a window open with the pokémon stats / moves and a special page for EV numbers pretty darn handy when you are EV training.

I also then would like to see some sort of indication as to how many EV and what type u would earn by defeating the opponent pokémon i had to look up each pokémon and check the EV value on bulbapedia.

I like more the idea of a special page from EV, than reorder the EVs. In the last generation, Nintendo add some items that lower the EV points, so the people can reorder the Evs

EV training is a hassle, true, but we are in luck as we're playing in the Johto region; the easiest place to EV train. Johto by far has the simplest places to EV train very quickly with minimum hassle. All you need is the ability to surf and you can easily fully EV train a Pokemon in less than an hour and a half. I'm working with a Pokemon MMO (not PokeMMO) that started in Johto and hence have made a very detailed EV training guide for both Johto and Kanto. It tells you the best places to EV train efficiently and which Pokemon give which EV points.

I also agree that it would be nice to be able to see the EV points you are gaining just to make things easier. You can usually tell if you have EV trained correctly by going to http://veekun.com/dex/gadgets/stat_calculator before you start EV training to check your IVs and then again afterwards.

yeah im sure its less of a hassle if you actually know what you're doing. i really hope something can be done to make it easier to learn about in p3d
