Edit: I guess you just evolved one of your Pokémon, so wait for the update that comes out today. It will fix that.

I had my cyndaquil evolving after the first gym. Then I went south, got the seeds from that guy, and when the youngster/teenager detected me it crashed. First pokemon (walking behind me) was Quilava (lv 15).

I fixed that in the next update, it is a "well-known" bug. It is caused by an evolution that would inherit the ability of the pre evolution to the new Pokémon.
The update will come in the next hour, I am finalizing stuff.
