Yeah... The CD drive isn't that important but I wouldn't mess with windows if it was pre-installed.
Usually you are ab;e tp use the key 3 times on a pre-installed windows but I wouldn't risk it.
Just run some scans with your virus, clean up junk, un-install programs you don't need and get something else than Norton/Mcafee because I think they don't really like this game very much. (If you paid for it... then... Think about it before doing it.)
ok norton and mcafee came preinstalled so i didnt pay for em and i have a free anti virus i prefer anyways called advanced system care 6
Advanced System Care is good, I use it too.
Easy way to get rid of junk and other stuff.

Delete everything except your saves, download the game and install it on your DESKTOP. Then right click and open the game as admin and download and install the updates. And make sure to always run the game as administrator.

Ever since I downloaded the game a few days ago, I've been getting this problem. I hadn't been playing for a while and then it happened, it happened my first time starting the game, so I haven't even played it yet. I've tried everything suggested in this thread. Deleting and re-installing the game, updating it, everything.

My OS is Windows 7, I use an HP laptop, 64-bit, A8 Vision AMD, Quad Core

I also have both .NET and XNA.
