It really must be some other software interfering with the game.... What software? We don't know.

If you have Skype, you can share your screen so the person who is helping you can see what's happening. Either that or install team viewer and request help from one of the developers.

To be honest, to find out what program is messing with the start up of the game is pretty damn hard to find out.
And I don't really suggest the skype/teamviewer thing.
Even Nils doesn't really know what the issue is.

Try restarting your computer when the error occurs.
Close any useless program.

Skype can't hurt, the user only shares his screen view. And besides, it is better to see than guess. If the computer is used for gaming, my guess is that there are corrupted system files. As saw that he uses a laptop, so i'd check the video drivers. Try reinstalling netframework and xna.

I am not saying that it would interfere with the game, I'm saying that it would take too much time and since we also have no clue what the problem is, it would be kind of pointless.

It is not pointless. The game support team must try every possible thing to help the user out. I'd suggest the topic creator to stay in the website chat and ask for help. Posting in here won't help in this case, it is slow and ineffective.

To be honest, the problem doesn't lie with us nor the game, but the user's programs/software.
We do NOT know what the problem is and thus unable to help. Even with Skype or Teamviwer.
The actual topic creator already got his problem fixed but we didn't fix it, it just started working all of a sudden.
Ulvein is the one having the problem but we can't help.

I guess I skipped a few posts. Reinstalling windows always helps, if he wants to play the game so badly, that's the way to go.

dont i need to buy another copy of windows to reinstall it? and could it perhaps be mcafee or norton tht is messing with the game?

Norton is indeed pretty bad and I don't know Mcafee.
I think you can reinstall it with the same key but it kinda depends on your laptop.
Did you install windows yourself or was it already installed when you got it?

it was preinstalled and this laptop does not have a cd drive

Yeah... The CD drive isn't that important but I wouldn't mess with windows if it was pre-installed.
Usually you are ab;e tp use the key 3 times on a pre-installed windows but I wouldn't risk it.
Just run some scans with your virus, clean up junk, un-install programs you don't need and get something else than Norton/Mcafee because I think they don't really like this game very much. (If you paid for it... then... Think about it before doing it.)

ok norton and mcafee came preinstalled so i didnt pay for em and i have a free anti virus i prefer anyways called advanced system care 6
