Seems like in the new version poison's coded to happen after you attack, but if you use an item such as a potion, you don't take damage from it.

Nils, will you implement the "Status Phase"? or will you continue with the poison damage after the move?

It also didn't work when the enemy missed his attack on me, my pokemon was poisioned but didn't take poison damage after the enemy missed his attack.
