Checking friendship in online mode

Hi there, my odd egg contained a cleffa, who is now at a whopping level 40 and still won't evolve (while it has never fainted).
Where do I Check happiness? when I turn around, I read stuff like "it looks like its holding on to something and wont let go".
That's good, right?

Yea, my Cleffa is level 63 and it hasn't evolved either. It's hugging me, however, so I think I'm close.

Friendship gaining through battle doesn't work atm. Only walking works.... so... keep walking....
