I like the update so far, I appreciate the effort in which it took to bring this out, but I find that I will have a rant to post before anything good.

Maybe prior notification to the severe cut to exp rates would of been nice for us to know. We were told the battle system will change, there would be new moves and the ability to pvp and double battle(that just about sums it up).

Exp rates have been cut by 60% prolonging the game and forcing some players to change the way they have been playing for the last year.
- whatever took you 4 hours of training to do before will now take you 10.

Your favourite training spots are now pretty obsolete, for example: Unown's now provide 42 experience a battle rather than 101 experience per battle. I assume training on the level 30+ pokemon are even more restricted.

I'm now forced to progress through the game to train my pokemon quicker to evolve and complete my pokedex.

- I guess this makes it so we can't camp around grass/caves anymore to properly train our pokemon > and making it so we should destroy the elite 4 multiple times to train quickly, to stay true to the original games.
- progress the story or fall behind
- never train on difficulty 0 - 1 as exp rates will be alot more restricted than they already are.

I've tested a playthrough on difficulty 0 first and found it harder then the previous difficulty level 2, since there is alot more grinding done.

I than tested it on difficulty level 2 and found myself having to spend hours grinding in order to beat my rival after the second gym, still never succeded and had to stop.

We basicly find ourselves on a much lower level arriving to places where we were *just the right level* before the EXP nerf. This is going to result in a much longer and drawn out adventure.
The change is not that we cut the EXP you get from battling a Pokémon but rather we updated the formula from Gen IV to Gen V.
This is the new forumla:

  • a is equal to 1 if the fainted Pokémon is wild, and 1.5 if the fainted Pokémon is owned by a Trainer.
  • t is equal to 1 if the winning Pokémon's OT is its current owner, 1.5 if the Pokémon was gained in a domestic trade, and (from Generation IV onwards) 1.7 if the Pokémon was gained in an international trade.
  • b is the base experience yield of the fainted Pokémon's species, listed here.
  • e is equal to 1.5 if the winning Pokémon is holding a Lucky Egg, and 1 otherwise.
  • L is the level of the fainted Pokémon.
    • In Generation V, Lp is the level of the victorious Pokémon.
  • s is the number of Pokémon that participated in the battle and have not fainted. If any Pokémon in the party is holding an Exp. Share, s is equal to 2, and for the rest of the Pokémon, s is equal to twice the number of Pokémon that participated instead.
    • If more than one Pokémon is holding an Exp. Share, s is equal to twice the number of Pokémon holding the Exp. Share for each Pokémon holding one.
  • p is equal to 1 if no Exp. Point Power is active, or else equal to the following depending on the power: Power ↓↓↓: 0.5; Power ↓↓: 0.66; Power ↓: 0.8; Power ↑: 1.2; Power ↑↑: 1.5; Power ↑↑↑, Power S, Power MAX: 2. (It's 1 in P3D)

I see, I think I get it.

I'm not sure what most people prefer, but the new exp multiplier does make hardmode tough (though the pokemon don't learn any new moves when leveling up <- this could be added to the difficulty factor).

I personally prefer the old one due to the balance with difficulty set in level 2.
having started a new offline profile to do some testing > there will now be a large chunk of time with grinding the additional exp you are missing out on when the exp system changed.

I don't mind giving this time for us to adjust to it though, I am flexable.
We just can no longer sit there in one spot destroying pokemon 10-20 levels lower than what we are using.

i tried many battles to raise my swinub and the exp.share doesn't work with this new battle system!

Finally! i have played a little, and i am almost at the league now. i love the new updates. but there is one thing that i would like to be changed just a little. The 3d models in battles do not move, and seem lifeless n stuff. could we maybe have an option to toggle between a 2d thing with animations, like before, and the new 3d models? Anyways, good job on the update!! :D

Edit: also, the exp share does not seem to work-

Mantine always has a remoraid with him. because Mantyke only evolves into a mantine if you have a remoraid in you party.
