So yeah, at first, please don't freak out at this screenshot, it's not working at the moment. But this is how it will look. In the near future. So calm down ;)
But yeah, I've seen mostly negative feedback on the new battle system and I saw the point of some of you and changed some stuff considering this feedback.
So first of all, here are a few arguments FOR the new battle system:
  • It will contain almost no bugs at all
  • Most of the moves, abilities and mechanics work as intended
  • One battle will take less time than in the old battle system.
  • I removed and changed some camera movements so that it doesn't move around as fast and often as before
  • PvP is close with this, as well as Double and Triple battles.
  • It's easier to maintain and work with for me.
  • The game's size will go down massively because it doesn't come with all animations. This also allows us to make sprites easier for 6th gen.
  • It will have a more fleshed out animation system which will be introduced later.
As you can see, I am mainly focusing at the battle system from now on.
@Darkfire and @Prince Vade are working on the other parts of the game.

Looks a bit more polish kinda like how they change the menu and battle menu in B2/W2 from B/W. If we get some animated sprites and moves then its perfect :)

this looks so cool! it lets you know that even for a gen 2 game it still has some of the updated features from gen 5:p but is there going to be overworld sprites?

I'm excited about the more fleshed out animation system if they can animate the pokemon and the moves while making it look sharp and smaller size downloads but that will take a while hopefully its completed by update 0.40

edit: also are there going to be attack animations or does that take up to much room to?

I'm glad you guys are taking our opinions into account!! Personally I'm all in for dropping the animations (I love them, but they do take a lot of space), and about the battle system, I don't care how it works, I'll get used to it :3

why? the animations are great. what if you were walking around with a legendary and you put it into battle? it would look just... simple and boring.

why? the animations are great. what if you were walking around with a legendary and you put it into battle? it would look just... simple and boring.
Like I said, I love them, but they do take a lot of space. It's just my opinion though, so don't take it too seriously. ^^
But personally I wouldn't mind being able to choose between the animated sprites and the overworld sprites. Then again, that would be better for a final version, and that's still far in the future, plus it's purely up to the developers whether or not they do it.
