So I was just about to access my Online account when the game crashed.

Try disabling your Gamemode on the menu screen.
I was playing online though, I don't think that is possible. Also this is a semi-rare crash; not getting it anymore.
It may be something trying to distuiguish the differences between online and offline and apparently it is blocked for online and thus causing a crash. (What I think that happend.)
But, in the menu screen > Pokeball top right > Gamemode > Disable > Apply
Try that and see if it still crashes. (Even if it is semi-rare)
