I know that Riding around halves the process, but is there any other way to speed it up?

Just find a long, straight path and walk back and forth.
If you have any music or podcasts you want to listen to, mute the game and listen to them.
I usually pace from the daycare to the end of goldenrod and back. If you walk along the left side (where the pokecenter is), the NPCs usually wont get in your way

I do something similar. Instead of going just back and forth I go in a rectangle to the end of goldenrod and back

Actualy more than halvens because you move about 3 times faster .

This. If they ever add abilities, then Magma Armor/Flame Body speeds it up as well.

It would indeed be exelent to have my gengar, weezing not get hit by ground attacks, That is one of the updates i'll be looking foward to the most. Cross your fingers! hope that it happens soon!
