Yep, and it is fixed with the new battling system coming in the next version. Has also been reported a few times.

Early in the development of the game it would put Pokemon to sleep, so maybe they are still trying to get it to work right

A lot of moves don't work, but they will be eventually, Should make PVP more and more interesting then. ^_^
