Not a bug possible bug (protein, calcium etc)

i just received a Charmander and decided to pump it with drugs, like protein etc.
used about 10 different ones then i rechecked his stats and nothing seemed to of changed.
Will it change when i level him up more? he is only lvl 2 at the moment.

Those vitamins are adding EVs, not stats directly.
The current version doesn't recalculate the stats after applying the items.
But when you level it up, you'll see that it gets more stat changes than it would have before.

Just had a quick look at what that means, could you explain it in layman's terms? i don't fully understand.

EVs (Effort values) are on of the factors to calculate the Pokémon's stats like Attack and HP.
A Pokémon can gain EVs by winning battles or for example getting vitamins.
