actually, I do have notepad (just found it) but how would it help me with changing the data file?

You try to open the .xnb file (I think that is what they are.)
Your pc will tell you that you don't have a program installed for it and ask you to look for something on the internet or look into your programs.
Press the button that will let you look through your programs.
Select the notepad. (Make it so it will always open such files with notepad.)
Then you can open everything normally.

Just paste the .dat file I sent you in the designated place I told you and... POOF. Fixed. ^^

Are you sure you made it so you can open the files with notepad?
Did you save your preferences in such a way that the pc won't have to ask you to manually open it again?
