JAPANESE TRANSLATION PROJECT!!!!!

Hello everyone,

I know that this game isn't completely finished yet, but I just had THE MOST BRILLIANT IDEA EVAAAA!!! We all know that Pokemon started in Japan. Without Japan, there wouldn't be any of the Pokemon we see today, so the Japanese gotta have some recognition, right?

Once upon a time, I collected all the original Japanese and English GBA roms for Pokemon (including translations).

As you can see here:
SGB,GBC POKEMON ROMS.png

I was admiring all of them one day (especially the Japanese ones), thanking Japan and Nintendo for letting us enjoy these timeless classics, when suddenly, it hit me. I thought to myself that all these games have Japanese versions; why aren't there any Japanese versions for Pokemon 3D? And so I decided to try and bring back that original Japanese love for Pokemon with this fun project, but I need your help (Amateur modder :3).

Introducing:
THE POKEMON 3D JAPANESE TRANSLATION PROJECT

If someone, ANYONE can confirm to me that I'm allowed to do this on the forums, help me with inserting the Meiro font (Japanese font file) into the game, or help me locate where all the conversation files are at, your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! :3

OH, and BTW,
If you like the translations for Pokemon Green and Pokemon Trading Card Game 2, I will leave a download link to them below.

NOTE: I didn't translate Green or TCG 2. All the extra work I did was edit the Green rom's color palette, so the game can have a color palette similar to the japanese rom and a more Pokemon Green feel to it. Plus Green isn't even a translation; it's just a hack of Pokemon Blue. Credits to both authors for making these translations for our enjoyment.

EDIT: Don't know how long the download link will last, so get in on it quick. :3

EDIT2: The link has been changed because I decided to add some finishing touches to the Pokemon Green palette, so go here instead:

(credits to Skeetendo inc. and me for making Green and Artemis251 for TCG 2)

This is an incredible plug.

If you want to, go for it. I dunno how many people in this forum can read Japanese but it adds some diversity to the resources. I can't help you out with the techie schtuff, but I'm sure a mod or someone can.

Thanks anyway... but maybe there IS a way for you to help.

You see, I'm sort of new to the forums, so not many people are actually fond of this. I'm also hoping that people just didn't go the forums for the rom translation link I put up above. :(

If you could, do you think you could maybe... spread the word? It's hard doing this project by myself without an instruction manual, and more people will be looking forward to this "incredible plug". It would really be weird if only one person downloaded the finished project. :(

Just go to googletranslate.com and run pieces of script in it.
I am currently using google translate for the script, but the problem is that the game just doesn't accept Japanese kanji into the game because no Japanese font is installed in the game. I tried fixing it but I just don't know how to open xnb files. Any advice?

Sorry it took so long for the update; I was busy with other things and stuff.

Anyway, I have good news and bad news.

GOOD NEWS: As it turns out, I don't really need to do anything to the font. I spoke with Darkfire and he said that the Japanese font will be included in a later update of Pokemon 3D. Plus, I can't really affect the files that use the conversations anyway, so you'll just be getting the tokens_ja file. But that's a good thing because the Japanese translation will be finished a lot quicker.

BAD NEWS: Unfortunately, the Japanese translation will have to take a while because of two main reasons.

1.I don't really close things much when I'm on my laptop, so I guess it's kinda' my fault. BUT, my little brother decided to hop on my laptop and close all of the files I was using WITHOUT SAVING, which brought me back to square one. :( The weird part of it all was I tried to see if I could recover some things on the Mozilla Firefox history, and I found PORN to be the most recent item on the list. What makes it even weirder is that my little brother is only 10 YEARS OLD!!! BUTT, the history of this porn was deleted, so I have no way of proving it to you. BUTTT, I swear that I still find porn on the recent history of my Xbox 360's Internet Explorer app.

2.It has come to my intention that the Japanese version of Pokemon G/S/C uses only the Katakana and Hiragana Japanese text. Remember, I want this to be the best Japanese translation that not anyone can just muster up using only Google translate and stuff. What I want is you to actually feel like you're playing the Japanese version of Pokemon G/S/C, so don't be upset if Darkfire adds every single Japanese character for this game and I only use a few of them.

PROGRESS: I think I'm about like 5% done, and it's really hard for one person doing it all by himself. If anyone would like to help here's a couple links to some tools that I use to translate the game.

https://translate.google.com/
http://www.romajidesu.com/katakana/
http://www.romajidesu.com/hiragana/
http://www.lexilogos.com/keyboard/hiragana.htm
http://www.lexilogos.com/keyboard/katakana.htm

I would also give you links to the English and Japanese roms of Pokemon G/S, VisualBoyAdvance (emulator), a Japanese Pokemon Gold remake for GBA, and Advance Text (text editor for GBA games); but you can find all those on your own.(Yes, these are all the other tools I use.)

HOW TO:
I'm also not gonna tell you that either. You're smart; I think you can figure it out on your own.

Also make sure you spread this thread far and wide to other people so that they know of this project and the stress that it's going through so that they might help. Would really appreciate it. :)

Thanks for taking the time to read this. :D

I talked to him about that once, but he kept telling me that he didn't do anything, but you know what, that's ********! Because I know that he would do something like this, and I'm the only one who knows that he did it. The problem is I have no proof of him doing it anymore, and I fear that if I try talking to my parents about it, they might think that I'm such a big tattletale, or they might excuse it for some sick joke... so I'm pretty much ******.
Sorry! I can't help......I don't know a thing about the Japanese language.:(
Well you can always spread the word. (#smileydog)
;)
