Launcher won't start/update, or do anything else...

I just got the launcher from a mirror because the download on this site didn't work, so I got it from a mirror I found elsewhere. When I first open the launcher, the start button is grayed out, the main screen says that there is no connection, and when I click the button to start the game nothing happens... everything in that pop0-up window is non-existent except for the cancel button and a few words.

Did you press the ''Download the latest version'' button under it? ._. Ofcourse you will need the files to actually be able to play the game.

Yes, I clicked that and nothing downloads, or gives me the option to download anything. When I download, it's only an application, so maybe there are missing files? Oh, and I have Windows 8.

Just so we're sure you're working with the correct launcher, I've attached it below. Just rename it to .exe from .txt.

Yes, I clicked that and nothing downloads, or gives me the option to download anything. When I download, it's only an application, so maybe there are missing files? Oh, and I have Windows 8.

Sure, I just have to figure out how. One moment. Bad news; It seems every download I've tried has been quarantined by Webroot. Good news; I can fix that, so the download doesn't get quarantined, right?

I could not find an easy way to let the download through, but I'm downloading it from here;

I still get the "hollow" launcher page, and am not sure if that version got quarantined by the spy-ware, but I scanned again after the download and nothing showed up.
