Why are psychic moves super effective against ghost types?

Every time Drowzees use confusion on my Gastly, it's super effective. Why is this?

Also, Mean Look didn't work on an Abra

ghost is strong against psychic and psychic is weak against ghost BUT ghastly is part poison which psychic is strong against.

Psychic attacks can be used on Ghastly, Haunter AND Gengar. They are super effective, too.

''Psychic attacks must be weak against ghost pokemons......'' this is wrong. In the original games psychic does normal damage against ghost types.
The super effectiveness comes from the secondary type they have. Which is ''Poison '' and psychic is super effective against poison.
