The daily competition is one where Darkfire gives out a rare or unobtainable pokemon to whomever *cough*Hippocrit*cough* can catch the Pokemon requested with proper level first.

The only reason I dont compete for pokemon in the challenge is because more than half the competitors are breeders on this forum, so I know directly where that pokemon goes when they win. Therefore I also win that pokemon because I just request it on here, so when they win, I do too.
