how do you trade?

It's not hard.
The trade portals are located in the Goldenrod Pokécenter.
To make specific trades (Person to person), you must unlock the Friend Hub. (The green portal.)
The Friend Hub will allow you to send/trade Pokémon to specific people, ofcourse, you will need the Gamejolt ID of the other person.
(You must go to Ecruteak City (The city after Goldenrod.) and talk to Bill in the Pokécenter there.)
To make general trades that everybody can see, you must use the Global Trade Hub. (Orange/Yellow portal.)
The Global Hub will allow you to put up a request and then everybody will be able to see it. If they want your Pokémon, they will press the trade button and put in their Pokémon and accept it. Poof. Done trading.
(Once you reach Goldenrod, the Global Trade will be open for you.)
I can get you one, you just gotta unlock the Friend Hub.
Well.... no. There might be a way to trade through Hamachi on the offline mode. Though, that'll be next update or some updates after. I am not sure.
You could generate the Pokémon if you really want it.
The files for your offline save are stored in your local folders. Which means you can open and access them.
You could edit the file so that you would have the Pokémon of your choice. It really isn't hard at all.^^
You just have to change some numbers in a string of code.
I had to do it, too. It was a pain but in the end worth it.
That too. It's a lot of fun to participate in them. Unfortunately, it's hard to join in since there are a few try hards.
You gotta be prepared!
