I believe perks is a no go for the main game
especially since we phased out any type specific classes with 0.32.1

The perks idea to me feels a bit..... I don't know, it doesn't suit Pokémon.
Pokémon is all about training, traveling, adventure and having a good time. :D
To give it perks just feels odd.

Yeah, I feel that it will become a Role-playing game. :p While Pokémon is known for the ability to become whatever you want. ^^

I think maybe with the whole "start over" idea, story-wise, perhaps the new locations "Pokemon League" requires that you start with an "official" starter of that region, your old Pokemon are stored in seperate boxes to prevent from using them, and earning certain badges makes Pokemon of various levels available (ie: Badge 1 allows Pokemon 1-10, Badge 2 allows 11-20, so on until Badge 8 allowing up to 100) and also making the Elite 4 and gyms reflect these level permissions, with the Elite 4's and champions being up in the 80's-100 levels for maximum challenge.
As for trainer classes, I want something along the lines of being a breeder, I've always loved the idea of being able to breed Pokemon and either trading them or selling them, perhaps having various perks allowing higher chances for better stats and shiny status for professional breeders. You could do something similar to the skill system of Skyrim even, you get a perk point for every level, spend it where you want type thing, that way players can boost all sorts of abilities, like higher catch rates, more berries from plants, etc. Not sure what the max level is gonna be, but if done right, you can give everyone a chance for something while leaving stuff for other players to offer online, perhaps a gardener who sells berries bc they get more than a player who chose catching rates over berries.

notable point for multi regions:
nilllzz's current plan:
add a region tag to the pokemon save files
if your tag doesn't match the region the pokemon doesn't show up in your party or box AT ALL (don't worry it would still be there you would just have to be in the proper region(s) to view it
however after beating the main story (usually champion, though with the current story that might be considered Red not Lance) you would loose that region lock and beable to get any pokemon EVER(that we have implemented at that time.......)

As long as I get enough fire types for a full team, I'm good, but I know D/P, they only offered Chimchar and Ponyta as the only fire types throughout the entire game. Not that my Ponyta (now Rapidash) didn't smoke everyone, even the water gym, but still, I would have liked more than two Pokemon to rely on, especially since Chimchar's evolutions were almost absolutely useless as a Fire/Fighting type. So I do request, nay, beg... please add more fire types to the catchable roster of those areas T.T

That's a pretty good solution. Have you guys come up with a story justification for region locking pokemon, or are you just going to leave it?
no story justification atm....but we are likely to come up with something(though it might be cheesey)
possibilities I see as possible:

1) we just leave stuff alone you play as Ethan/lyra in johto, Red/leaf in Kanto, Brendan/May in hoen, etc and when you beat a new one it and any other completed games magically fuse (http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lwgakrsV911qkegjyo1_400.gif :p)

2) you actually live in a mini hub world and a professor sends you out to save each region
however until you have saved them the professor's workers cannot connect you box systems or create a receiving pad and you can only bring pokemon with you when you are going to or from a recieving pad(any pokemon you have with you will be force deposited when you return(which for security resons you can only do from a PC :p))

#2 is my personal Idea I just fleshed out and made into a thing :p

I think we will be going platinum style(and emerald and fr/LG(no promises but safe bets)
in platinum you could catch the Magmar family ;)

Works for me, as long as my Rapidash has some REAL backup... Oh, and can we just take Chimchar out, perhaps replace it with something useful? Like a Magikarp?

Magikarp will be there(it always is......)
and Infernape is a VIABLE fire type because of its speed
I personally would use Chimchar or Emboar if there weren't such other interesting fire types in the same regions(Magmar and chandelure....) I personally did get annoyed with Fire fighting when they repeated it for the third time but I don't like the other gen 5 starters much either so.....
I am 99.99999999999% sure we won't change starters anywhere(so are free to make a Gamemeode that uses other pokemon as starters(I did :p) but it won't be part of the vanillla

Well maybe mine just had some issues, bc unlike it's predecessor, Blaziken, who had a lot more speed, Infernape couldn't get the first strike against most Flying types and a handful of Psychic types, two additional weaknesses that it couldn't handle. Blaziken could learn some Rock moves for Flying and had the speed and power to take out most Psychic types before he got hit. To be honest, Chimchar had a tough time of it, but I only trained that one, so I could be a bit harsh, judging them all for one failed Infernape, perhaps when the time comes, I'll give him another try.
But I am a bit curious, I know the badge idea was a flop, but what did you think of the ideas on the story and level perks?
