Soooo, I could get magikarp, magikarp, magikarp, regular gyara, and Id be fine..? Id still be chaining towards a shiny magikarp? And only if the gyarados is shiny, then Ive messed it up..?
Yup.
Find A SHINY, no matter which one, and you'll have to start over again.
sry for adding to the questions but if its a non shiny of a pokemon u dont want do u need to run away to keep the chain going?

Simpleversion.
Find Pokémon you want > Defeat it > Move 4 blocks away > Find Pokémon > defeat > repeat > Get shiny.
Haha ok. Thank you. One last question, I heard something about repels being needed? Do I need to use them? If not, if I encounter a pokemon Im attempting to chain before those moving 4 blocks away, is it shot?
No, don't use them. Repels are used to NOT encounter Pokémon at all. Depending on the lvl of your first Pokémon in your party.

I think, if you encounter a Pokémon within the 4 block radius .... I don't really know.
pokemaster91 confirm, please? :)

Yup.

It still sounds like a win win tho. Haha. If Im chaining for a shiny magikarp and find a shiny of ANYTHING else, Id still want it and be happy. haha
Hahaha, yeah. :D

I feel so dumb and annoying for asking all these questions. Lol. Im sorry :p But thank you for the help :)
No worries. Go hunt dem shinies now! ;)

Disclaimer: Sometimes, it will take a long chain to get a shiny..... or even, without succes. It only increase the chances to 100/2000 orsomething. Which is still good. :p

Yeah, I think leaving the area resets it. So, use Pokémon that have a lot of PP moves and potions and that stuff. :p

Why are you guys talking about chaining? Was that poke radar thingy from diamond and pearl version that is used to hunt down shinies implimented in pokemon 3D?

No, but chaining alone already increases the chances of finding a shiny... so.... ^^ Any the developers might actually add that radar sooner or later. :D

no it will mess up if you run into a totally different pokemon. you can only encounter that one pokemon that you are trying to get shiny.

btw you only kill the first one you encounter and you run away from the rest till you get the shiny or the chain breaks
