That is awsome! now if its client side only does that mean that when you do multiplayer other players wont see you properly?
That and/or I think both players crash

Both players will need to have said file, which here isn't an issue since we can attach zip files easily. It's just a matter of convenience

you wont crash but anyone that has you in view will try to draw you, wont find the texture and will crash.

instead of allowing custom sprites (i have ideas for actually allowing them, but it involves having online services delivered ingame which means someone has to make a back end for it and i'm just not up for that right now :p) overworlds, including your own player skin, will be swappable via the content pack system

so you can choose a girl character when you make your character and set up a little content pack (its very easy) to swap that character to whitney. and you can be whitney through the whole game, when you join coop others will see like, hilda or w/e you picked instead, unless they too have your content pack to swap it

if everyone in the game has a pack for swapping sprites you and your friends can be a party of gym leaders, or the elite 4, or a pack of slendermen, whatever!

ok so that would cause some issues none the less thus why i was saying implementing something as a part of the game system would be the best way.... it's great being able to add ur own to your own game files but having more options that wouldn't crash multiplayer would be nice as well and would likely need included as core game files.

Its very easy.

These Sprites are in 1YL. and plenty more to put in. so maybe you can take my offer in consideration?

Idk if this already has been discussed but what about back sprites?

Or at least, in battle, I'd like to see the player standing there, like how other trainers stand there during battle. It'd be cute C:

it would be, but because we aren't artists we are just using sprites from the games. the trainer sprites in the battles look good in the gameboy games but they aren't going to look right in our 3d field.

the more detail something has the more you expect from it, so if we had one of those back sprites behind the pokemon people would be wondering why they arent all animated and why they are in awkward poses etc. the overworlds look just fine sitting behind their pokemon

however, id like npc textures to be able to go higher res if the artist wishes, so instead of officially supporting fancy trainer sprites we can just allow the sprite for the trainer to be higher res so if someone wants to they can draw good sprites for that, they can.

Ah but what about the player overworld sitting there in battle, like trainers/opponents already do? it wouldn't require anything extra really, but just the back of the player overworld, on the side

in the battle you are meant to be in 1st person so we aren't going to add that to p3d, ever. maybe down the road we'll give more control over the battle, but for now its set up how we want it and we havent got many plans for making the battles more customizable than they already are

we'll use what we can use now and go with it. at least we're able to customize certain parts of the game rather then not doing so at all. and maybe down the road it can be modded a bit more. i dunno. it all depends how far the script language can go.

I will close the thread, please use the correct subforum to talk about customization and modding ;)
