I would assume so.
Instead of thinking by regions think by games
but that is a LONG LONG ways off
So eventually we will have something similar to instances sort of or will they be entirely separate games that we can just trade between?
I am hoping that they are seperate only until you beat a certain objective(usually the E4 but it might be(say for g/s/c) a major character(like red)) but idk

Don't forget the possibility of having all the regions implemented so it is actually possible to catch almost every single Pokemon.(starters would still have to be traded in to complete the Pokedex, but the point is that all Pokemon would be able to be caught legitimately.
I love the idea of all pokemon being obtainable, and all the regions being implemented. But after the second region most of your pokemon would be close to level 100. So there would need to be a system where you leave your pokemon behind and start fresh or something.
Well next region progression would have a cap based on the badges you gained. I think more or less badges will always determine who you can have in your party. That is how I see it working and I think it works quite well. You could even make it so you need to see every Pokemon before importing your own lower leveled Pokemon. Thus getting a larger pokedex for your effort. Which is technically the national dex. :)

I still want some aftergame stuff in the same region. I always feel that if you make it so there is nothing else to do... And if we just moved to the next region.. I feel that Johto/Kanto was nothing at all.

I wouldn't mind having some after game content on the Sevii islands. Create a new side quest and be able to capture certain Pokemon. I would have that Hypno event as one of them. There is potential there.

If you would consider having to start over with a new team per region, why not just have separate games the way GameFreak did? That way, each one could be built with a new/improved game engine. As far as the back end goes, I think it would be a safe guess to say that Nilllzz has at least a few things he would do differently now if he were able to start over (not suggesting he should). That way, with each game, we could enjoy engine improvements as well as be able to explore new regions.
My brother makes games, and he is stalled on his 'big' project because of all he has learned between when he started it and now. His programming paradigm has changed so much, it makes it difficult to keep working on it the old way. I think something similar might happen here if all the regions were put into the same game.

I don't think they'll have that issue. After all when you start a project you got a plan for it.
All that is left for the users is to speculate. Since I started testing the game (it was 0.16 version I think) I had no problems whatsoever, not counting the bugs that we all had. Since then the game has grown a lot, and I really mean a lot. The team is doing a great job, look at the top games at gamejolt.com.

Right, and I'm not discounting his work at all, it's really extremely impressive, and I'm not saying he didn't have a plan, but I am saying that he's a young programmer and programming is a skill that continues to improve with practice and time. If each new region were in a new game, think about how much more impressive it could be with improved groundwork. Think of it this way: what if Nintendo released all the Pokemon games using the first generation engine? Then Castelia City would still be monochrome, top-down with all square buildings.

If he finds something that he wants to do differently he just redoes it(watched him do it a few times already) the difference between this and Nintentdo is that we put out weekly and thus can change things weekly.
If we decide to overhaul a system then we overhaul the system.

Don't let me be misunderstood. I'm not suggesting that you change anything now, not until you have Gold/Silver done anyway. I do know what indev means and that you can change stuff incrementally. But I meant for Hoenn, or Sinnoh, if you decide to do it, since those games are entirely different versions anyway, when it comes time for them, that gives you a great opportunity to try new systems at that point. I won't argue with whatever the devs decide to do though, they have the final say, and they're great and wonderful people for giving us Pokemon 3D!

The idea of this engine is that you will be able to use it for ANY thing that you want to do in the pokemon games

Nillz is not Nintendo. He has created a game that can have so many possibilities with what is available right now. Nintendo does what they can do with their current hardware. Once they find an engine they like they stick to it. New games is just new profit. However this is an indie game that you can donate if you want. This is the game I can see going further than Johto and Kanto. A new engine would be required for Black and White however.

Nah this engine can get us through anything out currently as they all use the grid movement

I think I'd rather have it be all the gyms since I'd want to be able to use Pokemon from other regions to battle the elite four.

Wouldn't it be difficult to do Castelia City? or is there a way to warp the map ?
The only issue there is the curve...so maybe we just son't make it curved?
if we get there we will decide but that will probably be 2-3 years off
I honestly don't see the problem with a curved road. It still uses a grid system and intermediate blocks(half road/half grass kinda thing) could be used to make it look less blocky. It would take a while to get right though.
