So I have been looking through the forums and found a few things I really liked and had a lot of attention; Many more things implemented and considered then I had expected. And I also just wanted to say keep up the fantastic work and the massive updates!!

So what I think would really make this game pop with vibrancy, with elements from other generations and just what other users have already suggested in a sort. You will probably notice that there is a lot of suggestions from Gen 3 and stuff such as. Gen 3 was one of the most deviated Pokemon formulas and yet was so traditionally Pokemon. I also feel, in my opinion, Gen 4 and lower was where Pokemon shined. I do not care about a broom with eye balls and mouth whom gets evolved to a mop with bigger eyes as a Pokemon. Same with the effing ice cream cone (Really Nintendo? A Vanilla Icecream Cone with eyeballs called a Pokemon?) Either way, here is a list of things I feel should be added and a justification.

Trainer Classes and Perks: Trainer Classes adds an unique way way we look at Pokemon. In the end, we all liked to play the protagonist. But I feel like it lacks true customization with a character is we are all basically the same. With the ability to change our character's class and give it perks based on that, it adds an element of a true RPG that is needed in the Pokemon franchise. Being a bug catcher, or even being a Dragon Tamer or what have you adds one more facet to your character.

Trainer Customization: Alright, we are talking about an RPG here folks! RPGs, Acronym for Role Playing Games, usually have some sort of customization but with this franchise it just never came to light. In fact, about the only player/trainer customization is your name and your gender. If we applied this to other games, they would fail completely! Think of only have the ability to be a male or female with a single preset feature in Skyrim or World of Warcraft. You have 6 presets for characters, and I am excited about that. But adding hair style, looks, little (possibly unlockable) emblems and clothing style as you progress through the game would add that real feel of both Pokemon progression and Character progression as well. I mean, face it. When you start EVERY Pokemon game, you are some bright eyed child in the world of Pokemon and learn through battling other Pokemon. As your Pokemon progress and evolve and look different, so should you!

Secret Bases: Generation 3 was such an amazing deviation from the previous generations. We were facing a whole new villain (Magma and Aqua), legendary Pokemon that didn't fly (Kyogre and Groudon), and a region that was just so vibrant and amazing. One particular aspect of it though that caught my attention was, of course, the Secret Base function. Riddled throughout the region were these little places you could make your own fort. You could put neat little plushies (Super cute plushies may i say) and mats. I saw some awesome ideas incorporating that ability to have your Pokemon outside the PC and relaxing, and otherwise a place to kick back. You could add features for people to want to be inside their base as well, such as berry combining for feeding Pokemon (Such as the Pageants held in Gen 3) Or Pokeball crafting, or whatever.

Pokemon Contest: Pokemon Contest in Generation 3 Pokemon was crucial to the game. It added a mini game that was prevalent throughout the game. As you collected various berries, you combined them to make different foods for your Pokemon to munch on, making them better in certain stats. These stats even affected some Pokemon's evolution's (Feebas to Milotic with beauty and such). In the end, these contest really add a sense of raising a Pokemon in a different way; in a more horizontal level progression rather then the typical vertical level progression you see in games. You aren't leveling the number, but the stats. And these stats (Cool, Tough, Beauty, Cool, and Cute) could slightly alter moves success rates and damage modifiers. Pokemon with a high tough stat could get slightly better with using moves like Rock Polish and Harden. Smart Pokemon could possibly be better at using Sand Attack or increase their evasion. Either way, the contest was a mini game that lasted nearly as long as the game itself.

Game Corner Mini Games: The mini games at the original Game Corner were such a grind I felt and after a long time of grinding just to get a Porygon or some other uncatchable Pokemon, I can honestly say it was a misstep on Nintendo's part not to add more mini games. I spent sooo many hours flipping voltorbs in SS and playing slots that I can say that I'd rather not do JUST those two things. It's a GAME CORNER, not a Grind Corner. I don't want to loose interest after 30 minutes of playing. Either way, I don't actually have any ideas for new many games, but I am sure other people do and putting more mini games in that game corner could be a real nice touch to it.

Custom Radio/Trainer Edit Radio: Music helps bring out the game I feel. The reboot of the Fallout Series added radio stations that kept the user entertained while they went on with their journey, and we've seen how it affected combat and personal experiences. Adding the ability to add custom music to a your radio (PokeGear) would make the experience much more customized. The old radio station gave you perks to using it, allowing you to catch certain Pokemon. Why not play some songs genre specefic when you add them, oh lets say Modest Mouse for softer alternative music, making wild Pokemon to alternate between different Pokemon there. It would be a fun system to implement - let players experiment with different genres of music to get different types of Pokemon.

Destiny Choice: Okay this one is a little out there but I have always wanted to join the various villainous orginizations like Team Rocket, Magma, Aqua, Plasma..etc. I think it would be neat if the player had the ability to choose to be a bad guy or a good guy. I know this project is to make someone 'Barf Nostalgia', but adding features to this game such as this would make it a better RPG then Nintendo could have ever made it.

I also felt is necessary to add the things that really aren't ideas, but rather useful stuff.

~Everstone~~Different buyable evolution stones~
~Steel Coat and various tradeable evolution stuff (For like Slowking and Steelix~
~Great Ball Success rate > Ultra Ball Success rate~
~Pokemon Passive's do not work~
~Pokemon Colliseum. Seriously...awesome game, lots of people want to see this~
~Changing Dialogue before and after the battle - It would be nice to customize~
~Co op Battles available to be seen~

Joining Plasma or Galactic wouldn't make sense. Plasma's goal is to remove pokemon from trainers. Ghetsis's true motivations are hidden, but if they were to win there would be no game. Galactic's goal is to wipe this world clean and create a new one. Success there would result in you and everybody you ever knew dying. Needless to say, this is a bad thing. Aqua and Magma would probably only work if your character face-heel-turned at the end, along with Archie and Maxie. If Brendan/May and Rayquaza hadn't stopped the battle in Sootopolis, the region, and probably the world would have been destroyed. Of course, all these are assuming you want to be able to continue playing after the end game.

Rocket on the other hand, is entirely plausable. Their schemes are only for money. Since a Rocket victory wouldn't destroy the world or permanently separate you from pokemon, a Rocket grunt story could be pretty interesting. Your other ideas are pretty cool, especialy custom radios and revamping the Game Corners.

Yeah, I don't really know Plasma or Galactic (Hated that gen of Pokemon). Rocket is entire plausible, I agree. I'd like to see it happen though, give a new spin on the entire series really.

Here's one I want to add to my own game if I can ever learn to hack and make games Romance come on people it has appeal to some it doesn't have to be force just kinda like a system where you can engage more with the other characters e.g maybe having them follow you or a party it is a RPG having more trainers would be nice you could add your own or maybe have the chance to have the gym leaders follow you or maybe your rival joins you.

They could have a title telling you how close they are to your current trainer (if one wanted to add the choice to switch your current trainer) like friend, best friend, ally (meaning not really that close maybe the default when they first join), then girl friend (or boy depending on their gender (not sure if we should allow romance with both genders) ) etc, etc. They can have a impact on how well they work with you in battle or if they battle you for fun (or to train nice way to level up faster (I hate training in the wild they aren't strong enough and you always run out of trainers sooner or later) ).

Well that's all I got so far feel free to add on it guys I'm going to write it down in my note book of ideas for pokemon hacks/ games so I don't forget and it's documented for when I can make my games come to life for my own pleasure (and yours if I feel confident enough to share them one day).

P.S Daziman (I'm tagging you becuase I want someone to notice this I would like output on this) What do you think its not much but if you or anyone has ideas about it please tell I want to add this to any games I make to do with pokemon but that will be long off I have no clue as to how to hack the roms or use flash script or even a gamemode on P3D but one day I'll find a way to make them.

Hi there! I'm here to give my opinion and a long winded explanation. :D
Trainer Classes\Perks: This would be a nice feature, a feature to manipulate, and would add some cool and complicated aspects to the game. But it is honestly geared toward a multiplayer point of view. The perk system I find outlandish and in my opinion should not be implemented. Pokemon is meant to be Pokemon, not some standard RPG. Its Pokemon for a region. I am all for a multiplayer feature that changes your class. But that would be name alone. As it was in the gen 4 games.

Trainer Customization: ...I really don't understand why there is a big fuss over this? You can make your own sprite, or have someone else do it. And put it into the intro. And it would be select-able. If you want an in-game wardrobe where you can change the color of your pants and alter your hair style, and move things around like the sims, now that is a suggestion I would consider working on. It wouldn't effect the pure-T Pokemon game, and would allow the player to personalize the character a bit. A custom sprite would allow more, but i know people want change sometimes.

Secret Bases: These are Pokemon games. Of course their are secret bases! I would more prefer and underground fossil digging thing like in gen 4. That would kick major arse! But this has been considered and it under processing of implementation. Nobody is directly developing it (...probably be me in the future -.- ) so there is no ETA.

Pokemon Contests: These are something i would push for as well. I was extremely disappointed in the contest system for Gen 4. I much prefer the gen 3 contest system. But, this one is a major "debatable" I am pretty sure this game plans to extend to other regions, I know for a fact Hoenn. So, if we were to put in this for Hoenn, we would have to create a whole new system for Sinnoh. Which would be time consuming and memory consuming.

Game Corner Minigames: If you have noticed, there is no Gamecorner at all in the current build. I know we have bigs plans for it. Personally, I agree, more minigames. But with the regions how they are, i would be much more in favor of 2-3 minigames unique to each gamecorner. It would encourage travel, and I think it would be much better than having a bunch of the same gamecorners.

Custom Radio: Again, something that isnt even done being worked on yet. This is a very tough thing to get into the game, the Pokegear in general is a slightly difficult procedure. But, this was in the remakes, so chances are it will be in this game. THAT, and it was an awesome feature that everyone loves.

Destiny Choice: Here is another suggestion that interferes with the concept of "Pokemon." Pokemon is not a typical, run of the mill RPG. It is an RPG that, admittedly, could have used a bit more features and variety. But it is a game of creativity as well. This is more along the lines of a gamemode option. If a gamemode was made for this, it be awesome. Nough said.

Different buyable evolution stones - All are buyable in Celadon City Mall, but in Johto you could only find them or a certain girl gave them to you after she called back. I don't think these will be put in.
Tradeable evolution stuff - This stuff was one of a kind most of the time, and will probably be put in once trade evolutions actually work.
Great Ball Success rate > Ultra Ball Success rate - Why would we go against tradition that was set before us so many years ago?
Pokemon Passive's do not work - Yes, they haven't since the game came out. There is an LUA script file that controls all of them. So, they are all a work in progress.
Pokemon Colliseum - This would most certainly be a gamemode. I highly doubt it would be implimented into the actual game. And if it was, not until later.
Changing Dialogue before and after the battle - I dont know quite what you mean, but this is changeable via the trainer files.
Co op Battles available to be seen - Again, no idea what you are talking about. If it's double battles you want, then they wont be in for awhile. That would be extremely difficult to implement.

Hope I covered everything. Took me a bit to type.

So I have been looking through the forums and found a few things I really liked and had a lot of attention; Many more things implemented and considered then I had expected. And I also just wanted to say keep up the fantastic work and the massive updates!!
first off i'm gonna say i like you because you brought attention to my Trainer Class idea and that boosted my exaggerated imaginary ego to incredible heights.

secondly, lets cover all the bases as simply as possible!

trainer classes/perks - amazing idea (especially knowing how much time spent in thinking it up) but VERY complex coding, one would have to rework the game mechanics entirely and dev team is already up to their neck in work.
if anything it will be a game mode due to the fact that RPG elements such as this go against the pokemon framework and thats okay! i'd rather it be a gamemode first because all new ideas start small

trainer customization - Prince Vade is right about the availability of people that can make sprites for players (i myself do retro sprites SHAMELESS ADVERTISING), the current method requires a bit of knowledge on the players part on how to navigate the files to use custom sprites, but i believe what you seek is a Player-Friendly solution to this that allows players to dump files in and be able to use them without too much guesswork. all i can say is too look towards the future.

secret bases - this is already on the list of things that will be implemented but don't expect to hear about it for a couple months

pokemon contests - came out in the 3rd gen games so it would require making up a new map within johto that can hold a building for contests. it's possible, but maybe we might just wait for Hoenn to be developed first :)

game corner mini games - first off, pokemon is all about grinder girl! secondly, remember this is a game built for the simpler minds of kids, the games put in did not require much thought or instruction to know how to play, yes it's dull, but it's what it is

custom radio - we have some kids down in released content that have music packs ready for download, this'll change your overworld music, as for inserting custom music, wait until the pokegear is officially implemented, then there should be a location that stores the sound files for the radio, im pretty sure a lil editting and importing could get you what you want

joining the bad guys - this calls back to the class system, these are both RPG elements that are left out of pokemon and because of that it is hard to incorporate without a couple fundamental changes in the game, HOWEVER with game modes, anything is possible all one has to do is completely rework the story line. hence gameMode

stones - will be implemented eventually, RB and Y were sadly the only games where you could go to the Celadon store and buy stones galore, the Gold Silver era maps and beyond removed that ease of access but they are located throughout the map, you gotta wait for their implementation

trade items - got to establish all the aspects of trade first, then the aspects of trade evolution, then the aspects of held item interaction, then the aspects of trade item evolution. it's all a process

passives - they will in the future

great balls > ultra ball's - that's like saying 2 is greater than four, it's not. now if you're saying THE NAMEs should be swapped? maybe, but it's over 15 years too late to change that

pokemon colliseum - def a game mode, no doubt about that

dialogue - if you know what you're doing then go dive into the data files for the game and make em yours

co - op - the future baby! it'll come, dont worry

This topic is looks like as one big topic where some people suggestions are added.
Trainer Classes and Perks: this idea is improving by snoe, but no promises it will come to game.
Trainer Customization: from how much I heard in this Pokemon game no, but personal still thinking about that, so maybe will come in distant future, but no promises.
Secret Bases: I heard maybe come, but first need finish Johto region.
Pokemon Contest: in Kanto - Sinnoh maybe will add, but Unova and Orange Islands will need lots of work. Plus need choose which Pokemon Contest system take: one phase 3rd or three phases 4th.
Game Corner Mini Games: in Kanto - Sinnoh maybe will add, but Unova and Orange Islands will need lots of work.
Custom Radio/Trainer Edit Radio: for this I don't have any info, but idea is good.
Destiny Choice: now everyone know this game will have all regions, if luck be ours, so how always every region will have they original bad guys.

With the great balls versus the ultra balls, My success rate with a greatball is much higher then an ultra ball, which is why I was saying the great ball success rate beats my ultra ball success rate. I could sleep, paralyze, yadda yadda yadda, still have more of a chance to capture a pokemon with a great ball rather then an ultra ball.

As far as pokemon status - my Noctowl gets put to sleep. My Unknown is affected by groundtype moves. etc. etc.

For the pokeball issue, just because you have more luck with the great ball doesn't mean it's better. It means you're lucky.

Also not all abilities are implemented yet. Give it some time. OH THE HORROR I HAVE TO PLAY THE GAME AS IF IT WERE THE ORIGINAL GOLD AND SILVER WITH NO ABILITIES THE HORRRRROOOORR.

Abilities aren't necessary

snoe

Active Member
Not necessary, but they do give Pokemon their individuality.
i understand that abilities are unique, but there was a time where they didn't exist and that was perfectly okay, it's not the end of the world and pokemon can play perfectly fine, so your magnemite gets hit by ground attacks because it doesn't levitate, maybe instead of using a steel/electric type, next time you'll use something useful such as water or grass.

abilities make battle strategy lose a bit of common sense
