Bug Catcher
So I have been looking through the forums and found a few things I really liked and had a lot of attention; Many more things implemented and considered then I had expected. And I also just wanted to say keep up the fantastic work and the massive updates!!
So what I think would really make this game pop with vibrancy, with elements from other generations and just what other users have already suggested in a sort. You will probably notice that there is a lot of suggestions from Gen 3 and stuff such as. Gen 3 was one of the most deviated Pokemon formulas and yet was so traditionally Pokemon. I also feel, in my opinion, Gen 4 and lower was where Pokemon shined. I do not care about a broom with eye balls and mouth whom gets evolved to a mop with bigger eyes as a Pokemon. Same with the effing ice cream cone (Really Nintendo? A Vanilla Icecream Cone with eyeballs called a Pokemon?) Either way, here is a list of things I feel should be added and a justification.
Trainer Classes and Perks: Trainer Classes adds an unique way way we look at Pokemon. In the end, we all liked to play the protagonist. But I feel like it lacks true customization with a character is we are all basically the same. With the ability to change our character's class and give it perks based on that, it adds an element of a true RPG that is needed in the Pokemon franchise. Being a bug catcher, or even being a Dragon Tamer or what have you adds one more facet to your character.
Trainer Customization: Alright, we are talking about an RPG here folks! RPGs, Acronym for Role Playing Games, usually have some sort of customization but with this franchise it just never came to light. In fact, about the only player/trainer customization is your name and your gender. If we applied this to other games, they would fail completely! Think of only have the ability to be a male or female with a single preset feature in Skyrim or World of Warcraft. You have 6 presets for characters, and I am excited about that. But adding hair style, looks, little (possibly unlockable) emblems and clothing style as you progress through the game would add that real feel of both Pokemon progression and Character progression as well. I mean, face it. When you start EVERY Pokemon game, you are some bright eyed child in the world of Pokemon and learn through battling other Pokemon. As your Pokemon progress and evolve and look different, so should you!
Secret Bases: Generation 3 was such an amazing deviation from the previous generations. We were facing a whole new villain (Magma and Aqua), legendary Pokemon that didn't fly (Kyogre and Groudon), and a region that was just so vibrant and amazing. One particular aspect of it though that caught my attention was, of course, the Secret Base function. Riddled throughout the region were these little places you could make your own fort. You could put neat little plushies (Super cute plushies may i say) and mats. I saw some awesome ideas incorporating that ability to have your Pokemon outside the PC and relaxing, and otherwise a place to kick back. You could add features for people to want to be inside their base as well, such as berry combining for feeding Pokemon (Such as the Pageants held in Gen 3) Or Pokeball crafting, or whatever.
Pokemon Contest: Pokemon Contest in Generation 3 Pokemon was crucial to the game. It added a mini game that was prevalent throughout the game. As you collected various berries, you combined them to make different foods for your Pokemon to munch on, making them better in certain stats. These stats even affected some Pokemon's evolution's (Feebas to Milotic with beauty and such). In the end, these contest really add a sense of raising a Pokemon in a different way; in a more horizontal level progression rather then the typical vertical level progression you see in games. You aren't leveling the number, but the stats. And these stats (Cool, Tough, Beauty, Cool, and Cute) could slightly alter moves success rates and damage modifiers. Pokemon with a high tough stat could get slightly better with using moves like Rock Polish and Harden. Smart Pokemon could possibly be better at using Sand Attack or increase their evasion. Either way, the contest was a mini game that lasted nearly as long as the game itself.
Game Corner Mini Games: The mini games at the original Game Corner were such a grind I felt and after a long time of grinding just to get a Porygon or some other uncatchable Pokemon, I can honestly say it was a misstep on Nintendo's part not to add more mini games. I spent sooo many hours flipping voltorbs in SS and playing slots that I can say that I'd rather not do JUST those two things. It's a GAME CORNER, not a Grind Corner. I don't want to loose interest after 30 minutes of playing. Either way, I don't actually have any ideas for new many games, but I am sure other people do and putting more mini games in that game corner could be a real nice touch to it.
Custom Radio/Trainer Edit Radio: Music helps bring out the game I feel. The reboot of the Fallout Series added radio stations that kept the user entertained while they went on with their journey, and we've seen how it affected combat and personal experiences. Adding the ability to add custom music to a your radio (PokeGear) would make the experience much more customized. The old radio station gave you perks to using it, allowing you to catch certain Pokemon. Why not play some songs genre specefic when you add them, oh lets say Modest Mouse for softer alternative music, making wild Pokemon to alternate between different Pokemon there. It would be a fun system to implement - let players experiment with different genres of music to get different types of Pokemon.
Destiny Choice: Okay this one is a little out there but I have always wanted to join the various villainous orginizations like Team Rocket, Magma, Aqua, Plasma..etc. I think it would be neat if the player had the ability to choose to be a bad guy or a good guy. I know this project is to make someone 'Barf Nostalgia', but adding features to this game such as this would make it a better RPG then Nintendo could have ever made it.
I also felt is necessary to add the things that really aren't ideas, but rather useful stuff.
~Everstone~~Different buyable evolution stones~
~Steel Coat and various tradeable evolution stuff (For like Slowking and Steelix~
~Great Ball Success rate > Ultra Ball Success rate~
~Pokemon Passive's do not work~
~Pokemon Colliseum. Seriously...awesome game, lots of people want to see this~
~Changing Dialogue before and after the battle - It would be nice to customize~
~Co op Battles available to be seen~
