Gold or Silver?

So, this game is supposed to be a remake of Gold and Silver. But those are actually two different games. Okay, they're the same game with a couple minor differences. Mostly spawn locations and rates.

Is this going to be Gold spawn rates, or Silver? Since some things don't spawn at all in one version, you can't have cannon spawn rates on certain routes if you just mash the two together. It's not the end of the world if they get get tossed into one game version, but it seems like a mistake. Nintendo/Game Freak recognized the value of having exclusive pokemon, and providing an incentive to trade does help foster the community.

Perhaps we could have a system by which players choose a gold trainer card or silver trainer card and that affects their spawns. Or just have the game split into two modes, Kolben Gold and Kolben Silver. If the world spawned based on the player's option it would add an extra element to co-op.

So, yeah. That. I may be in the wrong section, but "General" seemed safe. Mods, please feel free to reclassify this if it needs it.

Uhm, actually the game is Crystal based :p
Your argument is invalid.

It changes the question, but it's actually more relevant. The list of pokemon not in Crystal version is longer than the list of pokemon not available in Gold and Silver (excluding many RBG pokemon along with some GSC pokemon). Are we looking at including pokemon not originally available in the game by simply adding them to spawn tables in the wild? Are we instead implementing them through other existing in place reward structures (i.e.: Game Corner, Safari Zone, static in-game traders)?

I generally prefer for this project to be as true to the source material as possible, but the availability of specific pokemon is a non-trivial issue. Obviously no one here answers to me, but I think this is a question worth considering.

uhm.
Don't forget that the game isn't finished yet.
All the Pokemon that aren't in the game will be added later ;)
And if there's anything specific you'd like to be added in the game you can always ask on the site :)
Hope this answers your question a bit. I'm not one of the moderators so I don't know anything about the progress of the game.

Of course the game isn't finished. That's not my concern. There are pokemon that simply are not present in each version of the game. Crystal's list is larger than the one for Gold or Silver, but all three are missing something. So what are we expecting to have missing in the final version? If the answer is "nothing" then something in the game has changed, and I'm curious about the nature of the anticipated change.

Well the game is not an EXACT copy of the Crystal version. As you can see they already added the GTS in Goldenrod and more changes will follow to make the game more exciting but the main concept is the crystal version.
I'm pretty sure that all pokemons and items will be implemented later on in the game so no need to worry about certain pokemons missing because they aren't in the original game. ;)
Nevertheless these are all my speculations. None of this is 100% sure because (again) I am not a mod or anything, but it's quite certain that more will be added.

My guess is that story-wise it's based on Crystal, but for pokemon spawn rates it takes from all of GSC, so all pokemon will be available.
